hello all. i am 17 years old and started having periods when i was 14, so im hoping that my cycle is still irregular. i usually have my period starting on the 3rd of each month and they last for about 3 to 5 days.
on january 25th, my boyfriend of two years and i had sex, but we only went for about 20 seconds because i recieved a phone call from my mom. how ironic?
anyway, the week before that, i was diagnosed with both flu and mono.
it is now jan 6 and i have not started my period. becuase i wouldve hopefully ovulated on anywhere from the 14th through 19th, leaving room for error, i honestly do not see how i could be pregnant...
could it just be that from both the flu and mono, mixed in with the medications i was on, my period is simply just late?
over the past 3 days i have had all of my usual PMS symptoms: irritable, tired, headachey, cramps, tender breasts.
my mom is assuming im still slightly irregular, along with being sick and very stressed over schoolwork. help me out!

Alot of things could contribute to your period not starting yet. It could be your sicknesses, the medication, the irregularity of your cycle, and stress. Stress is a big factor when it comes to your cycle. And when your 17 your under quite a bit of stress. I know alot of people don't think so but its true. You could be stressed about having the flu, mono, school, just everyday things can be enough to delay your period from starting. And your probably stressed about whether your pregnant or not too which is also contributing to the problem. So first you have to relax, take a deep breath, and ask yourself how long did the sex really last. Was it really only 20 seconds? If it was then I highly doubt that you could be pregnant with that short amount of time. But to be on the safe side if you don't start your period in the next 3 to 4 days then you should take a test to see for sure. And when you get one buy a pack with more then one test in it so you can retest yourself. It's always better to be safe then sorry. LOL Like I said I highly doubt that you are, but if it turns out that I'm wrong then I would like to wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide to do!!!

You are probably not pregnant, but isn't it great how moms call at the worst times?! I think that is a sign!!! Stress will do that though, take a pregnancy test in a couple days if you dont start, or if you want to just take one now, I always started the day after I took the test...so maybe try that. You're probably just experiencing an irregular period. Stress plays a huge role in regular periods. Plus is you've suddenly gained or lost any weight that can effect it as well. I'd say don't panic - at only 20 seconds - pregnancy would be nearly imposible (unless he had living sperm on his skin to begin with). I'd wait until next month and if I still didn't get it I'd buy a pregnancy test. Or if you don't think you could wait that long buy one in a week or so.

yes i do think that you would have nothing to worry about but you know there is always a chance no matter how long you did it thats how i got preggy !!!! so just hope and pray for your period and if it dont come then see a doctor do not take a home pregnancy test they are so unhelpful you can officially take the test and it be right until you are atleast a month in a half !!!!! im sorry if you are bc i am 17 and i have a one year old daughter i got my G E D i didnt get to finish school now i do not regret my duaghter but i have no life so .... just calm down breathe and sooner or later you will know whats going on.....only way you can tell if you are preggers early is a blood test in which the hospitol gives you in the emergency room..in which they are soooo expensive hun just hang in there dont stress!!!! goood luck

If you don't get your period by FEB 13, take a test!!
But, honestly, pregnancy symptoms DO NOT show up that early.
I think your body got all "out of whack" and you're on your way to getting your period any day.

No, I don't think you're pregnant. You have the usual symptoms of PMS and stress can delay your period. One time I went seven months between my periods, and I didn't have sex or anything. You shouldn't have pre-merital sex anyway.

The best thing to do would be a pregnancy test. You can do this from the first day after when your period was due.

Hang in there...If you had mono your Dr. probably had you take antibiotics which run havioc with your system. Plus with all the stress and everything I'm sure you will be back to "normal" in no time.

Don't be scared. I'm 16, and my baby's due next month! And you know, it doesn't take much to get pregnant, trust me. I know it's scarey, but just tell your mom. You have to get tested. And she can help. I wish my mom was here to help me, but if she were still alive, I wouldn't be pregnant in the first place. Good luck!

please go to the doctors....home pregnancy's are not always correct....it may be do to the stress you are having, so please take extra care of yourself and mono could be very serious...lots of juice and rest...but plz i don't not agree to abortions, but I'll tell you i myslef got pregnant at the same age, had to drop out of school and became a teen mom, if i could go back and do it over, i would of waited to have sex...so plz What eva u decide talk it over with your mom and dad and his mom and dad....good luck ..ur n my prays
