Hey all,

I have a little baby boy that is almost 5 months old. Is it normal for him to be sleeping most of the day? It isn't like he has his days and nights mixed up, he sleeps through the night, from about 7pm until 8 in the morning. He will eat and want to go back to sleep for a few more hours, then up for a couple hours then back to sleep.

I know that newborns sleep alot, but he sleeps most of the day unless he is eating. When he is up, I keep him busy playing and such, but when he gets tired and wants to sleep, he will just get more and more cranky unless I lay him down.

I feel like I am ignoring him or something, having him in the bedroom sleeping all the time. Just wanted to know if this was normal or not.

Think you need to ask your doctor about this.. instead of coming on here. (just my opinion)

When do you take him in for his next set of shots.. oh that sounds so bad.. but not intended to sound that way. Or better yet.. call the doctor up and ask them.....

I think that is normal. I don't have a kid though but I know newborns sleep A LOT! He is probably growing! If you are concerned, ask your doctor. But you are not ignoring him by having him sleep a lot! It's not like you make him sleep! Lol

Ask your baby doctor. Each child is different...and while this may or may not,be normal, if you are concerned...is worth asking the doctor about. There are no stupid questions when it comes to your kids..they do not come into this world with owners manuals.Live and learn. But always be prepared.

I think he should start sleeping less any day now. Have your doctor check blood levels just in case.
