The Marine Corps is a sub component of the Navy. It per-se isn't a service. The Coast Guard is the most versatile service. They protect the Navy when in port, keep open our waterways, save peoples lives, perform law enforcement duties around the world, protect the environment, and keep the Marines safe. The Marines need the Air Force and Coast Guard "And" Army and Navy in order to survive from year to year.

This may seem like an ignorant question, but what exactly does the US Navy do? How often do they fight in battle, and if possible how long does one have to enlist?

I'm all about privatized education and so my child, who is currently being diagnosed with a learning disability, goes to private schools that we pay for out of pocket.

We're not "categorized" just yet, but will be soon. My spouse is up for orders beginning next month and am wondering if they are going to limit our choice of orders.

My cousin's husband has cheated on her. They're both military (Air Force)and have a kid together . My question is that is there some kind of law in the military that can punish the husband if she shows evidence of the cheating and how can she arrange well for a divorce. They 're stationed together in same base, guess is some kind of program they have.

I have been enlisted for 8 years, and I am currently an E-5, hopefully to be an E-6 soon. I am 28 years old, and I wish to to an officer. I am close to an associates degree, and I was wondering what program I should pursue to gain commision. I am concerned about age, because I still most likely need to gain my ba unless sta-21 is a possibility. I do not know about sta-21 because of age limits. Please advise, and don't tell me to ask my career counseler because she is an idiot.

I have been meeting more and more young people who are in various branches of the military. I was told by 3 marine recruits that, once they retire in 20 years, they will be getting $5,000/month retirement. Is this true and, if so, where is all this money going to come from? Will it REALLY be there, as promised?

I am 19, my ship out date is Feb 20th, 2008. Well I thought to myself what can I do to get in shape for boot camp! I know I will take some boxing lessons and call it a day! But as I boxed, I began to form a liking to this brutal sport! Now I am having second thoughts because I now want to make this serious! Should I turn down the Navy for this or does the Navy have a boxing league? And if so, how do I qualify? Thank you!

I want to become an IWO in the Navy which is a restricted line officer. I have heard that NROTC is for RL and isn't for RL, only URL. Can someone please clarify this for me? Also, if NROTC is only for URL, and I have to go to OCS, will I have to do any additional training and what should I expect?

Hello,

Well, I went to the optometrist a few weeks ago and I got 20/20 in my left eye, 20/25~ in the right(I wasn't feeling to well that day and was tired, so that may be the reason for that - the year before I had 20/20 in both). I understand the naval aviator requirement is 20/20 in both; but is that corrected or uncorrected, and how could this effect me? If I needed to be corrected to 20/20 in the right eye, will that disqualify me?
