The SAS does not officially exist. All those serving are classed as still being part of their parent unit on attachment.
Minimum is 3 years service with parent unit with experience of frontline operations, exemplary record and participation in specialist courses to be passed with high marks. A sniper course is a good choice, showing your capability to keep calm, make calculated assessments and also end an individuals life when required.
You must apply via your unit CO who will decide whether your name is forwarded for consideration or not based on your record.
You will attend an interview and a basic selection course to assess both your stamina and psychological attributes.
Whilst serving you will be constantly assessed and can be RTU'd at any time if your standards do not meet those required as you are never officially in the SAS.

You have to have several years experience as a member of a British Army Unit before applying for 'selection' into the SAS. The main Units from which SAS Troopers are drawn would seem to be Paras, RGJ.
However, you could join either 21 SAS, or 23 SAS, both of which are TA Units. You would have to undergo their 'selection' process, which I think, takes about 18 months.
From there, you would be able to apply for 'selection' into 22 SAS. That is the only other way to get into the regular SAS.
Hope this helps

i'm uncertain approximately human beings interior the British military, yet i understand you decide directly to spend at lest 3 years interior the army in a very professional or elite unit such because of the fact the Royal Engineers, Royal Signalers or the Parachute Regiment. and that i additionally understand which you will have no difficulty becoming a member of a British college. To Richard you're speaking ****, the French foreign places Legion sucks. supply me a para or royal marine any day. the French foreign places legion isn't what it was. 30 years in the past it replaced into disbanded to easily the parachute regiment and from there outfitted itself back up. additionally, a majority do no longer even talk French! which significantly undermines communication in wrestle. as far as actual well being you only might desire to examine the call procedures to work out it won't be that no longer effortless while in comparison with maximum British infantry regiments enormously paras or royal marines it relatively would not evaluate!

Yep, you do. No idea how long, my mate Woody was in the Army for fifteen years total, and in the SAS for some of those, but he's not telling anyone how long exactly, because like ex SAS anywhere he's not supposed to tell anyone about his time in there.
Known the lad for donkeys years and it was only a couple of years ago that he dropped that he'd been in the SAS. A less likely looking man you'd never imagine. But he's not prone to bullshit and if he says it, you can believe it.

You can`t joind SAS, without having served in military. The ppl they need, are recruited domestically. From the military. Period.
