The Marine Corps is part of the Department of the Navy, but not a component of the Navy. The Marine Corps was made a separate branch by the National Defense Act of 1947.
The Coast Guard does not serve as force protection of US Navy ports. The Coast Guard is not even part of the DOD; it was part of the Department of Transportation, now part of the Department of Homeland Security.
The Marines do not "need" the Air Force and Coast Guard. The Marines have their own aircraft, fixed wing and helicopters. Their only water transportation is Navy ships and landing craft and their amphibious assault vehicles.
As a "veteran" who should have known this. If not, ask your "nephew the Marine."

The Coast Guard is not a military service. They do receive the same pay and benefits of the military. The Coast Guard is part of Homeland Security and therefore have nothing to do with the Navy or the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps is under Navy control. In the sense that the Navy transports the Marines, Supports the Marines, Provides field medical care, and issues the objectives to the Marine Commander on what is expected for his men in the time of battle. Just because the Marine Corp is under the Navy does not take away any thing from the service of the Marine Corp. Many of my friends from the Vietnam era owe there lives to the brave men of the Marine Corp. I was an Air Force pilot and have nothing but respect to the Marines.

The Marines are part of the DEPARTMENT of the Navy. The Department of the Navy is NOT the same thing as the US Navy. Both the US Navy and the US Marine Corps are under that Department, so one is not part of the other. hese specify that BOTH the US Navy and US Marine Corps are subordinate to the Department of the Navy (similar to how the US Army is subordinate to the Department of the Army and the US Air Force is subordinate to the Department of the Air Force). Nowhere in the law is the US Marine Corps subordinate to or part of the US Navy. Even without that technical distinction, the US Marine Corps is not part of the US Navy in common thought or in practice. Coast Guard does not keep the Marines safe, in contrast Marines protect some Navy installations. Marine Corps has its own air and ground combat elements so we "require" other branches in order to survive. Get your facts straight

The Marines travel on Navy Ships to get overseas.
The Marines don't "need" the other branches just in order to survive. All of the branches work in unison, together.
When I emailed my Senator about something with the Marines and the American Arned Forces in general I asked for a reply back. Since my inquiry on a certain matter was initially about the Marines, I got a reply from one of the head guys of the Navy.
The Marines are a Department of the Navy and do work with the Navy more than they do any other branch, but they ARE their own specific branch.
And thank God we have them.

i might re-evaluate that one. She's could desire to have a um, romantic reaction which she will't do at paintings and could be completely distracted for something of the day. after all the 1st ingredient you may do is obvious this together with her boss! you do no longer prefer to get her in worry (some are like that) and you will even have the skill to rearrange for her to get something of the day without work when you suprise her. in case you will get the boss on board then i might have him set up a gathering for that day. while she walks in you would be on the table extremely of the vice chairman's she's looking forward to. you ought to even pass an extra mile and get somebody she does not understand to do a "presentation for you". perhaps a pal of a pal or in basic terms hire somebody from Craigs. Make a board with a gaggle of the rationalization why you like/love her for this guy to all of sudden initiate going over. She won't understand what's up till you stroll in the process the door.
