Think about other service branches as well, such as the Air Force. The Air Force has a higher standard of living and gets less deployed.
The Army actually does help with your education. There is something called the GI Bill, where they will pay for your schooling in exchange for a few years of service.
My recommendation:
1. You need to finish high school
2. Go to a recruiting place that offers information on the various branches. Malls often have the Army, Air Force, Navy, etc side by side.
There, compare your choices. Educate yourself.
FYI - once you sign up, there is a committment usually. Make sure you know what you are committing yourself to and make sure you can follow through on it.
Good luck!

Finish high school and then see if you feel the same way about joining. If so then go for it. Basic training is really not that hard. The Sargent's in basic are tough on you but they are there to prepare you for whats ahead. After basic you will go to AIT this is where you receive your training for whatever your job will be, a lot of hands on training. As for confidence, the Army will give you that.

Yes, you're going to ought to enlist within the Army to grow to be an Army Ranger. However, it's feasible to paintings it out together with your recruiter so that you're going to enlist as Infantry, attend Ranger tuition after Basic and AIT, after which probably serve with the75th Ranger Regiment. It will probably be plenty of rough paintings, however you'll do it.

Oh my gosh.... there are lots of crazy answers to this question.
If you lack self esteem the army is a good place for you.
However that being said, the drill sgt. in boot camp will break you down. However your unit will stand by you, you work as a team, thats what its all about.
However you do have to take into consideration (like the other answers said) are you willing to kill someone? Including going to war?!?!
Good luck to you, and be confident, I believe you can do it!!!

Enjoy the rest of high school
Have fun and wait. The army will still be there don't keep thinking about the future and miss the present.
After you get out of high school if you feel the same than join.

Stop thinking about it and go on and have fun being in high school. The military will still be here after you finish high school...after you finish some college...and even after you graduate from college. You have a lot of time to "find" yourself.
Don't regret not having a blast in high school.

Go.
Keep in mind though; being working in the army isnt like playing.
You might be instructed to take lives and it aint gonna be something fun as pointing and clicking.
And anyone could pass the basic training.

Your life will go on even if you fail. It's natural to think of the worst, but do not panic , please, but get ready with another option just in case. Being a mother I always startle to hear young guys join the army today. Bless you.

just thought i would chime in as i am in the army
about your concerns on getting through basic training..if you take it seriously and di what you are told you will get through. they are not going to set you up for failure.
now on to more serious matters. are you comfortable going to war? the reason i ask his is because you most definately will go. dont believe what your recruiter tells you if it is to the contrary. i have met only only one soldier who has been in more than two years who has not..and i have met thousands of soldiers. its a tough responsibility, so please dont take it lightly.
