I want to become an IWO in the Navy which is a restricted line officer. I have heard that NROTC is for RL and isn't for RL, only URL. Can someone please clarify this for me? Also, if NROTC is only for URL, and I have to go to OCS, will I have to do any additional training and what should I expect?

that is correct. ROTC only commissions Aviators, SWOs, SPEC War and Nuke.

OCS is Boot camp for Officers, run by Marines in Smokey Bear hats. It is 12 weeks long(as opposed to 9 weeks of enlisted Boot camp) and encompasses everything that BC does plus more leadership training. After that, you would attend NCOBC( except they don't call it that any more, but I forget what it IS called) which is basically A and C school for Officers. Then you would hit the Fleet, most likely as a DIRSUP Officer.

Look into BCDP:Baccalaureate Degree Commissioning Program. It will pay you a stipend and you will accrue leave while attending college full time and then you attend OCS after you graduate. One of my husband's fellow Spooks did it that way (her degree was in Music, by the way).
