I was at a few Dining Outs when I was on active duty, and after the formal stuff was over, (Dancing starts) many of the guys took off their coats to reveal a vest with patches, some of them multi colored. What is it called, what should it have on it, etc?

I have been thinking to myself alot lately on what I want to do. I just got myself a school and will be going to Hawaii for my next command, but I'm not sure I want to stay in the Navy after that because of the pay and assholes that come with the job.

I am almost done grabbing my AA degree in Computer Science and hope to finish and get my BA degree within the next 3 years.

Do you think their are better jobs out there that pay well then what the Navy pays you? I'm just unsure about landing a job if I dont get my BA degree done in time. I also want to work abroad in Japan since my future wife is Japanese.

Much of Iran's arms came from us. We've GIVEN Dictator Mushareff in Pakistan $10 BILLION worth of arms in the last few years. We can't even keep track of what's happening to all of the arms that we're dumping into Iraq. Why are we doing this?

The katana is very useful for Method Of Entry, CQB etc. They are light and easy to use than other equipment. I advise all troops to get one. (by the way I flogged it from Bujinkan Dojo in Japan after my training shhh...)

Well right now I'm in college and I don't have time to get a part time job. Money is running low and fees keep popping up. I've thought about joining the Coast Guard Reserves, but I'm afraid of not having time to see my family. And I don't want to be obligated to do this whenever they call for me. I don't know anyone else who's done the Reserves before. So your advise would be greatly appreciated.

I was told by 2 of my recruiters that while at MEPs I need to give as little information as possible. I asked my main recruiter about one and ONLY ONE situation I was in at high school. In my younger days i did some stupid stuff. I smoked weed about 3 times. never got caught. Drank alcohol 3 times. About 2 sips each time, and never got drunk. But one of those 3 times, I brought some to school. I sipped a little. And then gave the rest to a friend of mine. He got drunk. The teachers pulled him out of class for being drunk, and they came and got me. i was on camera giving the alcohol to this guy. I was sent to court. They gave 3 months probation. After the 3 months, they cleared my record. Also i was caught running a red light. Only ticket ever recieved. BUT. They caught me on a camera. They tracked the license plate #, and it was under my Moms name. So technically, she got the ticket right? Even thought I paid it. I never told them at MEPs. What should I do?On DEP. I leave 14April 2008.

The military in the US has traditionally been socialized. Do you feel this is better then a privatized system, or that making a privatized army is better?

Like right now, the US has thousands of mercenaries who they have hired in Iraq (Blackwater) which is a direction in privatizing.

You saw the question. Don't say stupid thinks like: 'IDK' and 'YES! I go to one!'. That doesn't really help me at all. It's a simple 'yes' or 'no' question.
