The P-51 Mustang hands down is the best and then second is the P-38 Lightening..The P-51's were the best out of them all in WW2..On the ground they were mean looking..In the air they were 2nd to none...And i have seen them fly and up close on the ground.

Either the Spitfire or the P-51. Both have the classic look of a fighter plane.

If you have ever seen one fly, it has to be the Spitfire.
This is the aircraft which inspired the great P51 but with its lines, curves and semi eliptical wingtips wins in the asthetics stakes.
The Mosquito was also beautiful to watch in flight.

The best fighter over all was the P-51 Mustang. It had it all, the looks, the stamina, speed, the lethal force.

For sheer grace of line, you cannot equal the Spitfire. If you want brazen compactness, the Fw-190 is your plane. And of course, the P-51's sleek, clean lines always brightens my day when I see it.
But like I said, you just can't equal the Spit.

My two choices are the British Supermarine Spitfire and the American P-51D Mustang.
