The Army has a system called Army Knowledge Online (AKO) that only service members have access to. It has a search engine that allows you to find other soldiers by their first and/ or last name, rank, unit, MOS, etc.

If you email me his full name, I can probably get you his email address and unit.

The U.S. military has an office called the "World Wide Locator." I'm guessing the Canadians have one as well. Contact your local Army recruiter and ask if they have an e-mail address or phone number.
