The katana is very useful for Method Of Entry, CQB etc. They are light and easy to use than other equipment. I advise all troops to get one. (by the way I flogged it from Bujinkan Dojo in Japan after my training shhh...)

yea.. thats the dumbest idea i ever heard.

you know what else works. a shotgun... now whats your pocket knife going to do?

i just had to add in here... never ever ever ever ever in my 4 combat tours have i ever ever ever ever ever used a knife as a weapon. i carry one for multiple reasons.. and yes, one being a form of protection... but the day you end up defending yourself with a sharp object... well.. i'll just say its a bad one.

No U.S. military personell utilize a sword as a combative weapon. We Marine NCO's are the only ones authorized to carry a sword as we use it only for ceremonial purposes. For close quarters combat or for a stealth kill we utilize ka-bar fighting knives, and piano wire. You have virtually no chance of ever being involved in a close quarters or hand to hand fight even in the infantry. The closest you'll ever get to that is if you are on riot control or Embassy guard duty and you have to restrain someone.

Oh, and kicksrocks actually a pocket knife is a very effective weapon. A year or two back a Marine in FL came home to find two kids robbing his house with a shotgun. He killed the two kids with a pocket knife he had on him. The media made a big uproar against the Marine not realizing how much more damage a shotgun blast would have done to him than a stab wound to a couple of delinquints.

Take some advice we would rather talk to you than read about you. So use the military issue stuff and quit trying to be something your not if you were that good then you would not have to ask the question would you?

It'd be a waste of space I personally think.

Flash bangs, grenades and armor piercing knives seem more efficient.
