There is a signed contract for one job, but another one is wanted. The recruiters are saying that during week 3 of boot camp a "classifier" can change the current contract to a new contract in order to obtain a different job. They are also advising that a vision "waiver" may be obtainable upon passing a physical fitness test (already passed pre-boot camp) any information will be greatly appreciated!! :)

Doesnt it make more sense for them to hit the homeland instead of fighting well trained and armed soldiers? All they have to do is walk across the open border with canada and they can be back in NYC in hours.

I think some people would say "how dare we take away their rights to protest in public places and attend schools, etc" but I think it would be better to have control over the situation in order to prevent further deaths. Me, I think I can sit at home and read a book or something if I had to instead of go wandering around and get blown up. What do you think?

I served in the army for about 6 years i went to iraq and was discharged after a bomb exploded which placed a lot of shrapnel into my body causing me to have trouble with my legs not always working properly. I wanted to go back to school get a GED (im a drop out) but the government said they won't pay cause im a dropout and cause my discharge wasn't honorable. Neither have they paid for the medical bills so I am slowly having to pay them through doing side jobs.

Is this right what the government says? What options do i have?

I guess I should rephrase my question and here it is:

How the hell do I make sure whatever the recruiter says about the benefits is actually true and if it isnt true then I get them. That is, how can I have him held responsible for what he says.

Meeting face to face doesnt give me physical evidence, by email he wont respond. Taping a phone conversation is illegal. Any ideas? I dont want to get screwed over.

A former federal prison guard who was stabbed in the eye by an Al Qaeda terrorist says failed shoe bomber Richard Reid has a potentially lethal weapon in his prison cell - a teddy bear-shaped plastic honey squirt container.

Louis Pepe is sounding the alarm because his attacker used the same type of container to blind him with a mixture of Tabasco sauce and pepper before plunging a sharpened comb through his eye into his brain.

"I thought for sure, after what happened to me, they wouldn't allow them to have the same things," Pepe said from a wheelchair in his Brooklyn apartment.

"And here he is, this [expletive] has the same damn spray," he continued.

A photo of Reid sitting in his cell in the ultratough Supermax federal prison in Colorado appeared July 31 on the front page of the Daily News.

I emailed my recruiter about joining the military and the benefits, and he told me to call him. I cant/dont want to call him because firstly i dont own a phone the only way i get online is via library or friends home plus i wanted to have a physical copy of his writing and i know that recording conversations over the phone is illegal. Is it normal for recruiters not wanting to list all the benefits through email or what?

Okay can anyone seriously tell me why Officers are paid 2-4 times morethan an Enlisted person? I know that they have a degree before entering the military but does that really warrant the amount of money they are paid? In my experience it is usually the enlisted personnel that does everything and has more knowledge of thier jobs. Just curious when a 1Lt who pushes papers would make more than a SSgt who's out there fixing fighters :0)

Just curious that's all. And yes, my husband is enlisted but enlisted with a 4 year degree because he wanted to work for a living :0) I'm not complaining about his pay or anything (he's an E-5 sellect). We have one child and although we aren't financially comfortable yet, we do just fine. I've just always been curious about the differences in pay.

I was in the Marine Corps myself, but honestly, I can't remember a time that I was in uniform off base for any reason. But last week I was at a festival and I saw FOUR Marines in their service Alphas, each with a big mug of beer. Not only that but they were outside without their coves on. I think the highest ranking person was a Sergeant, but I cant remember. What are the rules regarding this?

Could it be he observed the USA newspapers writing all about Spears and Hilton and very little news about the dead soldiers? Could it be he learned the American people are against the Iraq war? (70% of Americans are against the Iraq war) Could it be the everyday young American doesn't care and will not care about the worthless war in Iraq?

The Iraq war: Iraq did not do 9-11....No WMD....No threat to the USA....Medical Insurance: 47 million American have no health Insurance.....Homeless Veterans: Veterans are homeless all over the United States.....Justice: One must have a lot of money to get justice.....Look at all the black people in prison....If they had a lot of money they would not be in prison. I, as a veteran, am ashamed to have served.
