The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are wars against ideals... we can't kill a thing that isn't physically real, we can just suppress it and hope that the people of Iraq and Afghanistan will help to root it out and remove it from their societies.

If our goal in Iraq was to oust Saddam Hussein, then we won that in less than a year--the problem is that now we're still calling it a "war" when there are no clear-cut opponents against US, only people fighting against each other whom we're trying to police. It's no longer a legitimate "war" and thus cannot be won or lost.
In Afghanistan, we went after the terrorists and the Taliban that supported them. We ousted the Taliban, and we're still working on the worst terrorist camps. We have not lost that one; we're still at it.

You can't lose a war if it's never been declared. You can't win a war against a noun.
We owe way, WAY too much money to China for this Iraq mess to ever even be concidered close to a victory.
We will be feeling the ill effects of this war for decades.

is this another vetnam? yes it is look at the books writen by former north veitnamese generals and then look at the portraials that the media showed during that war, they are vastly diffrent the NVA genrals said they were on the verge of collapes but the media said that we were losing horrably. now look at the way the media is portaing this conflict and listen the the people who have been over there they show the same diffrence. ie those who have been there say we are wining and turning the country around and the media has up until reciently have been saying that we are in a "Quagmire"

We are slowly winning, in my opinion.
Even with the Democrats supporting the Terrorists & the Insurgents, we are still winning.
Bear in mind, that the News Media wants the Terrorists & Democrats to Defeat us.
They are not going to show us any good news.
