Military - September 2007

I have a criminal history from back in the day. I have 4 misdemeanors, and 3 minor non traffic charges, but it seems everytime, i start working w/ a recruiter for the Army or National Guard, they take their time w/ me. It seems like they dont put all their effort in me. I went to a Army recruiter about a month ago, and gave him my paperwork, and he sd, "dont worry, I wont dick u around like other recruiters". He sd that he had gotten other people in witth more serious stuff, but I have not heard from him in a month, and when I call him, he says, "dont worry, I will call u" By the way the misdemeanors were for 6th Degree Petty larceny, and theft under $300, and a DUI.

American forces are having a hard time dealing with a country the size of Texas (Iraq.)

Do you really think we are in the right position to invade Iran?

China has denied reports that its military hacked into the computer network of the US Department of Defense in Washington.
A Foreign Ministry official said the claims "reflected Cold War mentality".

The Financial Times quoted US officials as saying the Chinese army made the attack, which crashed part of a system for the defence secretary's office.

Last week China dismissed reports that its armed forces had infiltrated German government computer systems.

I am looking to join the Air Force, and I would like them to pay off my student loans and hopefully get the GI Bill, but when I talked to my recruiter, he said I could either have one or the other but not both. Im not too concerned about a sign on bonus, but I was wondering is there anyway I can negotiate with them, or is it set in stone?

As a Canadian, I think Hong Kong government is too greedy for the tactics to levy the tax revenue other than the said intent of protecting the Hong Kong environment. The real Canadian Super Store charge for 3 Can cents for a plastic bag on customers' request. How come Hong Kong government elegible to tax on the plastic bags? Is this their greed intent for raising 2 billion HK dollars to pay their overpaid civil servants? I definitely think so. Real Canadian Super Store is a very competitive in their selling products. They are entitled to charge three cents for a plastic bag. But Hong Kong government is just god damned greedy! No one wanted to pay it. I personal think that Hong Kong civil servants are overpaid and under worked. Why the hack they deserved a pay raise? Is it because Donald Tsang raised his alreay overpaid salary by 60k plus 30k allowance?

A soldier I know in the Army is saying it was erroneously reported in the Army Times in the Summer of 2006 that "Don't ask, Don't tell" was repealed.
Can anyone confirm or deny this, if so which issue? Are there any online links to it?

1. Can I sign up my sophomore year in college and take it? I didn't sign up freshman year and regret it.

2. What can I do to prepare for becoming an officer? My run time is 19:30 to 22 min for 3 miles. I am physically fit and moderatley strong though I could improve my strength. Any tips?

3. Can I still call myself a Marine?

4. Do I still get to wear the blue uniform with the white hat?

5. Is it a lot better than going in as a plain, enlisted Marine Reserve? What are the benefits of doing that over enlisted?

6. What do you have to do during the Summer and can I fit that in with school? Enlisted Marine Reserve I heard requires 13wks and I can't fit that in the Summer without it overlapping into school.
