Alexander was bi-sexual. That is well documented. His male lover was Hephestion (sp?). His had a tendency to conquer whatever he felt like conquering, men, women, the world. His relationship with Hephestion was a huge controversy of the age because he died without an heir to his throne. He had a wife but no children. It is said that on his death bed he was asked who would rule after his death. He replied " The strongest". After his death his kingdom (half the known world) exploded into war as his top generals fought for power.
As for the invasion of troy the practice of homosexual acts among the early Greeks was common(see the story of Ganymede). It was usual for military units to take a young boy or the youngest soldier and shave them clean to use as the camp toy. Homosexual acts were not viewed as "love" but more as satisfying sexual urges and were commonly pedophilic in nature. It was a rough time to be anything other than an adult male land owner.

I don’t know nor to I think its possible to know...but then again who the H*ll cares they were great military men who fought with brilliance.

Also Alexander the great had nothing to do with the Invasion of Troy...if that was even a real place.

Possibly.

Then ancient Greek culture was very tolerant of sexual activities and behaviors that today we call perverted. For example, a very strong and close relationship between older men and young boys was considered normal, with the older man being the sponsor or adviser to the younger. From some of that behavior comes the term of "Greek" style of sex, meaning sodomy.

The Jews of the time just ignored the Greek culture but when the Christians came along, they were very negative about it and insisted sex was only to make babies and the only position that was acceptable was "missionary" with the man on top.

Within their cultural background, being gay was not considered a problem or anything abnormal. So do not judge them by the standards of Christianity or of today.

Why the question? is it a pathetic attempt to be a anti-gay troll, its certainly got nothing to do with the military.

The events depicted in the movies were thousands of years ago, the characters long dead and turned to dust.
The Romans were just as fond of the boys as the girls, some Arab tribes believe in using boys for pleasure and women for breeding.

You are probably trying to judge the actions of century's ago using our so-called modern standards of today.

The Scots wear kilts today, I don't rate your life expectancy to be long if you walk up to a kilt wearing Scotsman and infer he is a homosexual.

During that time period, it wasn't uncommon for men to have sex with one another. In the Iliad, the Greek hero Achilles had an intimate relationship with his cousin Patroclus. I don't know about Alex the Great, but some say that he may have had a close relationship with one of his friends. In my opinion, it was all the wine they drank back then got them all delusional.

You obviously are very unfamiliar with history. It has been common in many cultures for men to have a male lover as well as a wife. In some cultures, it was common for a man to take a boy as his lover. The homophobia that America is well-known for is a throwback to Midevil times, when the Catholic church put human sexuality on trial and began to oppress people based on sexual preference. America's laws on sexual behavior still reflect the Puritan influence on our nation. In short...I think you might be surprised by the amount of men in this country that have had sexual relations with other men. It's well over the "10%" of the population that is openly homosexual.
