Bush is thinking of withdrawing some of our troops from Irag. The Iraqi goverment has been dragging it's feet. There is a very long history of sectarian strife and power struggles between the Suni and the Shia. All this must be considered by the President. Also the mood of The US must also be taken into consideration.

Do you need to be incredibly smart to get into any of the Military Academies and is it really difficult once youre in?

What GPA through high school? What kind of SAT? Not looking at any of the physical requirements, just about all of the mental things.

We are spending about a half of our national budget on military/intelligence. Another third or so is spent on entitlements (which is another story, for another post). I pay about $4000 a year in income taxes (and also more for payroll taxes, but again that's another thread). What am I paying for with the income taxes? I suspect it's so that huge multinational corporations can maintain their profits. Any ideas?

My son has a signed contract that states after Navy Basic Training he will be going to Pensicola, Florida to Air Traffic Control school. Are these contracts valid. I've always been told a recruiter will tell you anything to get you to join. I have seen his contract and it looks legit, but of course, I am a concerned mother. Has anyone out there had any experience with this? I just do not know what to believe.

My son is at Navy Basic Training in Great Lakes. His recruiter told him he could not take a watch with him, but in an information letter I rec'd from the Navy, it said I could mail him one. I mailed him a water-proof watch, US postal money order, stamps, pens, paper and envelopes about 5 days ago. Has anyone had any experience with this? Will my son receive this package? I hope he does not get in trouble because I mailed him these items. He called me when he first arrived at boot camp, but I have not heard a thing from him since. I'm very worried about him.

One Senator has even talked about restarting the draft here, so we have more military to send to Iraq. Why is every abled body person in Iraq not in uniform and fighting for their country?
I guess as long as haliburton is doing good, that's what's important!
And I don't want to hear about we are training them, give me a break!

The popular theory is that there were two world wars in the 20th century. World War 1, with Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire against England, France, Japan, Russia and the US; and World War 2, with Germany, Italy and Japan against England, France, the Soviet Union and the US. Isn't it more accurate to say there was really one world war, with Germany and her allies against France, England and their allies?

There were 20 years between the end of "WW1" and the beginning of "WW2", but the German need for living space and resources was a dominant theme of both wars. Germany was not actually defeated in 1919, they merely signed an armistice. The unconditional surrender requirement, and the actual conquest of Germany and Berlin by Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt finally ended the latest 30 years' war (1914-1945).

Do you agree?

I was very pleased to see our President fly into Iraq and make a positive speech, then visit the troops and give an inspiring speech. That beats the liberal media.
I was especially happy to see our troops recieve him with the applause and respect he deserves.

But our President is like that, he loves the brave Men and Women who serve this nation, not the Press and not the polls...just the mission and the progress made. I hate the PC word "Kudos" so I will say, "Well Done, Mr. President!"

Other than corperate rules do they have anyone other than the private security corperation to answer to for conduct ?

How or are their deaths reported ?

When does this become public knowledge - What is their mission ? Do they follow any sort of rules of engadgement ?

What are they paid as opposed to the regular armed forces that are over there now

Does it scare you that private armies are for sale to the highest bid - Should it scare you ?

Say, for example, you are the mom / dad / brother / sister / wife / husband of the person who perished fighting in a war, do you have the absolute right to request for the corpse back for burial?

And have there been instances where a military personnel have refused to open a closed casket because the body wasn't really there (due to it being unable to be retrieved in the battle)?

Can you demand to see the body and request for an open casket? Has it ever happened that an empty casket has gone home to family & friends of the loved one and be buried (empty)?

Sorry for the bluntness of my question but I was just wondering myself this. I have had ancestors who served in the military before, in my country.
