If I don't hear from them on e-mail, is there a way to find out if they're OK?

I don't know the person. I asked to send "care" pkgs to the troops around Christmas & this person responded. I've sent several pkgs since then. I know this is a hot spot & I'm not family, so I doubt that the military will give me too much info.

I'm pretty sure there are web sites containing active and inactive service members. Try typing in the branch of service they in which they were active, maybe add active or inactive for a start. Wish I could help more. Maybe this will give you some ideas of your own. Try the Department of Defense and add their name on both web sites. Good luck. T4

A lot of times email and phone calls are cut off when there is a major operation about to happen or when someone is killed or injured. I have seen phone lines and internet cut off for 2 weeks at a time due to a major operation being planned. If you have not heared from this soldier for more than a week or two then this may be the situation, or he/she does not want to talk to you.
