My husband is an E-5 in the army and has been in for 5 years. He has done 2 year long deployments to iraq and is up for his 3rd (15 months) in december. he wont even have been home for a year yet. We have 3 kids and no family in the area. He came home with PTSD and now is refusing to go back for round 3. He wants out but we dont know how to go about it without some kind of serious condition. He has bad knees so he might be able to blow one out and get med boarded. We thought about AWOL and then come back right before 30 days, but there's no guarantee for discharge. Also thought about failing pee test but he doesnt want to goto jail just get kicked out! (he IS NOT a drug user) Up until this point has been the model NCO. Please no comments about how he sucks and should finish out his contract and bla bla (he has 3 years left on it). I dont wanna hear anything unless it's advice on getting us out before december!!!! thanks.

When I go to navy basic training I will be 2 classes short of finishing my bachelor's in accouting and finance. The school is 100% online (pheonix). Will I have time during "A" school ( lets say after classes ) for EM to finish those 2 last classes?
How long is "A" school for electrician?

I have an interesting situation and I would like to see if any knowledgeable people can provide me with a legislation showing the current rules.

I just got back from the middle east on a deployment.

The catch? I volunteered to go with this unit.

I didn't know when my home unit was deploying again.

Now, I don't want to give a date we are getting mobilized due to OPSEC. But I will say, it will be less than 1 year from when I got home. And definitely a shorter period of time being back, than I was gone.

So with these 3 things.

1. I just got back from a Volunteer deployment recently..

2. My home unit is deploying less than a year from when I got home.

3. This time period being home is shorter than the time to the next deployment.

with this information my question is:

Am I required to go with my unit on their next deployment.

Chaplains are considered non combative. I have heard that some Chaplains stay on base in what they call the "green zone" and that sometimes they go out with the troops, I have also heard that it is the chaplains choice, or that it is up to the commanding chaplain on base. Which of these is correct? And if an Army Chaplain does see combat, how often?

I was in the Navy in '01, but was discharged from basics for medical reasons, so I am not eligible for GI Bill as I only served 1 month. But while I was there, they made a big deal about how the GI Bill could now be used for you spouse and children. My father, grandfathers (x2), great grandfathers (x2), and great-great grandfather (x1-Civil War Vet) are all vets. My father went to basics the day 'Nam ended. I don't believe he used any GI benefits if he had any. Does anybody know if I'm eligible to use his benefits?

Simply, I am looking for WWI veteran's addresses so that I can drop them a letter or two; I would enjoy writing to them. I saw a previous question asking for Frank Buckles' address, with one response; however this did not help me.
Could anyone else supply me with this information? I would prefer the address of Frank Buckles, since he saw action.

and have begun packing their gear for departure, who besides Bush and ignorant, hateful evangelicals think being in Iraq is still winnable? Don't bother saying the troops over there... My brother just returned. He certainly didn't want to be there and had nothing good to say about being there. Nobody did. He told me what really hurt moral was all the empty slogans from right wing chickenhawks.

In other words, what is the average economic gain that a military base brings to a community? I was in the AF for 9 years, and we were always told that we brought in some ridiculous amounts of money. Just wondering if that was all jargon or not because every military base I've ever been to has been located in a real hellhole...or in the middle of nowhere. Thoughts??

My question is kind of long...My husband is currently on a 15 month deployment to Iraq...both of our families live over 2,000 miles away & they want to come to my hubbys homecoming which is a few days before thanksgiving so they decided they would all stay 1 week which i dont mind, except my father in law he wants to stay 6 weeks. Me & my hubby have a 15 year old son, so we figured while he was in school & my hubby was on block leave that would give us some much needed 1 on 1 time, but we cant do it now that his dad will be here, and his dad doesnt understand that we need this time...he is flying and staying at our house. My hubby & his dad arent very close, they have a decent relationship just arent buddy buddy. This is our first deployment, my hubby has been in the army 14 years and we have been married 16 years. Am I being selfish? I need some advice from soldiers/wives that have been through a homecoming...

I will pick a best answer but before you say anything let me say this: I understand naval aviators land on carriers, just like in driving a car one is not a good driver because he/she can parallel park in a tight spot, its the over all skill not one thing. Any marine/air force fighter pilot can put in extra training to land on the carrier.

SO WHAT IS THE BEST BRANCH TO BECOME A FIGHTER PILOT?!

Does it help an individual become an officer, or does it help the person to get promoted at all?
The question is, I have a bachelor's degree. But since I am not a US citizen yet, I have to join as enlisted, then when my citizenship comes which will be around the time I reenlist I'll be able to go to OCS. My question is, if I volunteer to go to Iraq as an enlisted, will that help me get rank and will it help me go to OCS?

I don't agree that anyone against the war in Iraq should mistreat the military, but Liberals in the past, during Vietnam spit upon Soldiers. If they tell the truth, they know they did. I think they want to bury that history.
I cannot tell you what I would do, because none of it would be "legal".

So how much do they pay for a U.S soldier and what are the benefits when you die? Its not that I’m in need of money it's just that I want the war between Iraq and the U.S force to end.
I know that they wouldn’t matter care for what age are u in, You just have to show them your green card.

I’m an Amerasian and I don’t know why I’m doing this, I just hate the old life of going to school and working, besides I don’t even have a dream! well life sucks.

So I was wondering for when will the war end between Iraq and U.S force.
I was wondering if they will accept an 18 yr old guy who would like to enter the war and live my life?
That I'd rather be there fighting instead of wondering...
but I sure know that this are one of the signs of the end.
