and have begun packing their gear for departure, who besides Bush and ignorant, hateful evangelicals think being in Iraq is still winnable? Don't bother saying the troops over there... My brother just returned. He certainly didn't want to be there and had nothing good to say about being there. Nobody did. He told me what really hurt moral was all the empty slogans from right wing chickenhawks.

As I heard this announcement this morning I thought to myself how funny it is that somehow the British continue to announce their plans for a time-line for the withdraw of troops - they've done so time and again.

Meanwhile back at the dysfunctional intellectually stupid ranch - Bush, Cheney and all the other Re-puke lock steppers here in the U.S. continue to argue that our doing so is dangerous and irresponsible and only serves to *send a bad message to the terrorists* ?

all I can say is...

ENOUGH!

My kid brother has been over there twice and is about to go for his 3rd trip. As children, we were competitive shooters. He's a really good shot. At age 19, he joined the military back in 1999. I was considering joining, but an eye injury at work (I'm a sheet metal worker and welder) left me unable to get in.
He became a "Designated Marksman" which is kind of like a sniper at the squad level. He has earned many badges for Expert Infantry, Expert Rifle and Expert Machine Gun as well as achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and is about to get promoted to Sergeant First Class (E-6). He is a career man.
I'd say he doesn't feel positive or negative about being there, it is just part of his job. If you are in the military, it is best not to get too emotional about your assignment.

Where do you guys get your miss-information from??
The 500 British have moved out of Basra Palace Complex.

Their job was to train the local Police and military to take over the area, they have done that and pulled back to their Main Base in Basra Airfield as was the plan all along.

The British have not left Iraq as of yet.
Now its up to the Americans to get their mission up to speed.
Your brother is a very small part of the military machine, traditionally soldiers are the biggest complainers in the world, its what we do best.

Its not for him to decide where he wants to be its his job to obey orders and go where he is sent.
And even more fool him to listen to any political bull-shine.

ANOTHER prime example of someone who reads the headline only, but doesn't bother to read the article. The Brits are HANDING OVER security of the Basra region to Iraqi Police, as was the plan all along. They are NOT giving up, giving in, running away, or abandoning the civilian population in Basra. They were there to train the Iraqi security forces and they've done that, so it's time to move on to their next objective.

Next time, read the WHOLE article, Skippy... not just the inflammatory headline!!

Not by a long shot would I say there is "peace" in Iraq. As far as progress, we have tried but the terrorist continue to target any progress we make.

Man your ignorant. The British are leaving because there is peace and progress. They are not cutting and running. Their job is done. How dumb are liberals? Is there any end to your lack knowledge or lack of intelligence?
