The best maker is an old gentleman in Japan, he sells exclusively to a dealer in Tokyo, the dealer will only sell these swords to people he respects no amount of money will persuade him to sell to an outsider.

Japanese military swords are made in a Japanese factory, needless to say by the lowest bidder for the contract, the days of the Banzai charge and Kamikaze are over the Japanese officers do not carry swords every day but only on ceremonial occasion.

You are supposed to make your own sword! If you permit someone else to do you are considered inept and unqualified to be a soldier! It is an art form to do so!
