World war two lasted 39 months. (For the USA) Why are the American people looking at 5 years in Iraq? This is a shame.

It's "Don't ask, Don't Tell, Don't pursue, Don't harass". I agree with the not pursuing part of it, not harassing part of it, but If a servicemember is accidently outed, and in a critically under manned rating, why would the US Military kick them out over something so trivial?

But oddly enough, dirt bags that drink and get involved in alcohol related incidents are given second and third chances, but permanently labelled "dirt bags"

I'm gay and I don't go around the ship staring at other guy's privates.

How can we end this insitutionalized bigotry?

Legend has it, that every military post has one main flag pole who's truck, or finial (the ball on top) contains one razor, one match, and one bullet. In the event that the base is overthrown, someone is to dig around the base of this flag pole, find the .45 pistol, then climb the flag pole.
Next they are to use the razor to destroy the flag, the match to burn it, and the bullet to commit suicide to prevent being taken alive.
I'd like to know... Do you think this is fact or fiction?
I will post the truth after the question is closed ;-)
(to keep everyone guessing, only answer "fact" "fiction" "true" "false" etc... please :-D

Going from Colonel to BG, is it an under-the-table fashion to only promote those to General that attended the United States Military Academy?

Or, in Naval terms, Captain to RADM, with the location being the United States Naval Academy.

Hi,
I am shipping out with the NAVY in Feb 11,2008 I will be Hospital Corpsman. I will be Reserve since I already have some education(in other fields) and am already somehow established, however I would love to have the opportunity of working in the Health industry(I live in Miami and this is probably the only safe industry here lately) I am not sure that this 14 weeks training program with the NAVY will help me much in the Civilian world. I was wondering if any of you out there could advise me how to make the most of this rating, I am not even sure if I will be a paramedic once training is over.

With M/s Bush & Cheney vehemently refusing to de-escalate the Iraq War and upping the ante for war against Iran, it wouldn't be long before a draft is imposed on the Americans.

For those who want to evade the Draft, here is a practical example from the Guru himself: Mr. Dick Cheney:

My bestfriend is in the airforce and in desperate need of some professional help. He's drinking more and more to help him forget his abusive past.

He wants to go to counseling but said that he can't because it'll raise a red flag on his military file.

Is that true? If so, how can he work around it, because, again it's obvious he needs counseling.

I believe the war with iran is inevitable.......it will happen whether we like it or not. last i heard Iran have been attacking kurds inside northern iraq.

I sense a full blitz air campaign that will take criple Iran's military and government powers.

the US wont even need to have a ground campaign. Iran will be bombed so bad, it'll not be able to do a thing.

Iran has anounced it has 3,000 centifuges running and more are being installed on a weekly basis

Russia and China seem bent on blocking UN sanctions and other actions that would be "too harsh"

Bush has recently labled 100,000 plus Iranian elite guard terrorists and has accused them of creating failure in Iraq

Is a war with Iran now inevitable

If war is to happen will it be surgical strikes - conentional or nuclear

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday Iran had met a planned target of installing and running 3,000 atomic centrifuges used in enriching uranium, Iranian news agencies reported.
Iran had said it aimed to have that many centrifuges, which are set up in interlinked networks or "cascades" of 164 machines each, by the end of July. Diplomats in Vienna have said Iran appeared to have fewer than the target of 3,000 operating.
The diplomats have also said Iran's nuclear work appeared to have slowed down during the summer, possibly due to technical glitches or for fear of spurring world powers to pass a third U.N. sanctions resolution. Iran has denied any slowdown.
"We have more than 3,000 centrifuges working and every week a new set is installed," the president was quoted as saying.

If the overwhelming majority of terrorist are muslim; and muslims' hate swine; Why don't we (The Allies) dip our rounds (ammo) in pigs blood? I can not think of anything that Soooo frightens them as the thought of them being killed by a bullet laden with the blood of a filthy pig! Just think about it..... No greetings from Allah......No 72 virgins......et al. Al jezeera would be reporting that recruitment was at a all time low.
I say it is time to strike back.......what say you ? Please....no terrorist !! We know what your answer to this would be.

You feel up to spending the next 8-10 years in Iraq--policing someone else's civil war--and having neverending tours of duty.

Any takers?

It's only till 2015 to 2018 at the latest--that you can finally call it quits and come home.

Anyone?
