The Su-29 is an amazing aircraft. Truth be told if the skills of the pilots were equal the Su-29 would win every time against the F-15. The F-15 is the most comparable US fighter to the Sukhoi.

Comparing the Su-29 to and F-16 is like comparing a Cadillac to a BMW Z and comparing it to an F-22...Well, there is no comparison to the F-22.

What makes the US fighters the best in the world is a combination of great technology and amazing pilots. Our pilots are the best trained,most experienced, and most knowledgeable aviators in the world. They are able to take an aircraft an push it to it's limits. It doesn't make sense to have a boat load of capability with a cup full of knowledge which is what the Russians have.

however, if you must compare the Su-29 to the F-22 the technologically speaking the F-22 is newer, offers stealth technology and a plethora of other advances over the Su-29 making it far superior to an Russian fighter ever!

That wasn't always the case. In World War 2, most Russian aircraft were actually bought from the other Allied countries until they developed the Yak and MiG line. In the early parts of Korea, the MiG15 was a bit better than our planes at least until we rolled out the F86. Today, they've designed a lot of aircraft that are more or less comparable to our own, but most if not all of them wind up getting cancelled due to budget problems or a lack of need. It's mostly about the training, but we also put superior/more reliable tech into the planes themselves. We also had (and still have) vastly superior quality control regulations in place. You don't hear about it much, but commercial planes have been dropping like flies in Russia due to bad quality control and poor training for pilots. Also, during the Cold War, Russia's solution to almost every problem with their aircraft was "add more power." In other words, it'd be like a ship captain responding to a leak by increasing engine speed.

Sukhoi is known for reliability, if you've ever seen one of their jets take off from a dirt road you know what I mean.

But in performance my vote goes to the F-22, when it comes right down to it, the deciding factor is which aircraft has thrust vectoring, which allows aircraft to turn on a dime. the F-22 has this and even Sukhois latest aircraft the Su-34 does not. Although the Su-37, Sukhois multi-role fighter, does have thrust vectoring, it lacks the weight thrust ratio of the F-22, and doesn't carry a versatile payload.

Also, the F-22 has a stealth advantage, being coated in a radar absorbant material

Both are better in certain aspects.

The Sukhoi with it's swept wing design cannot be beat in a climb or dive but that is where it ends.

The F-22 Raptor and its cousin the VF-35 have the rest. They have a radar deflecting alloy on their hull, they are mostly smooth and keep their ordanance internal, limiting sharp objects. They have better agility and manueverability in a dogfight and are also faster due to the placement of the jet nozzles.

Overall the edge goes to the US fighter.

The F-15 is the only aircraft ever to have never been defeated in air to air battle. I think that speaks volumes to the abilities of the fighter.

I don't know which is the best fighter but I bet the United States fighter cost gazillions more dollars than the Russian jet.
