One way to reduce dependency is to give Public Transportation a kick up the backside. Basically any program that can take cars off the road is a step forward.
I want to advocate electric cars, but they are just so damn ugly, expensive, hard to find and hard to juice up.
Oh... legalize hemp... you can make plastics and other materials from it. Materials that would otherwise require oil to make.

Well, since the envinonmental front outlaws any other source of energy, thats a little hard. Can't have dams because of fish mating paterns, cant have wind power because the windmills kill birds, can't have nuclear because of a small amount of waste even though nuclear is clean as far as the environment and global warming. Even these battery cells for hybred cars are considered toxic.

A thumbs down for the truth, the ONLY way to over come our dependency for oil is to come up with an alternative source of power/fuel, think about it people we can not live in this modern world with out the benefit of oil or a similar substance or fuel.

We won't overcome it. We're spoiled brats, using up the resources of the world while the poor in third world countries die of starvation and unemployment. As long as we have the money to buy it, some one will sell it to us.
