There is a signed contract for one job, but another one is wanted. The recruiters are saying that during week 3 of boot camp a "classifier" can change the current contract to a new contract in order to obtain a different job. They are also advising that a vision "waiver" may be obtainable upon passing a physical fitness test (already passed pre-boot camp) any information will be greatly appreciated!! :)

It's possible. You do see the classifier and you are given a chance to change. Normally they want you to change into hard to fill jobs.

You've got to understand, if you want to change, the job you want must be open and you must be fully qualified for that job.

Don't get your hopes too high.

I went in as an engineman. In boot I changed to BUD/S and waived my school.
Created problems as far as rate back then. Had to take what was open. They made me an electicians mate. Never worked in the field.
Nowadays, I hear it is a rate.
Good luck and good choice (the Navy)
After I got out I worked 17 years as a commercial diver.
Navy schools are by far the best education you can get

You can change your job during The 3rd or 4th week of boot. Keep in mind though every job has different requirements. What job do you have?? and what would you want to change it to??

they ONLY way you would be allowed to switch rates in Boot Camp is if you are found NPQ or otherwise DQd (security Clearance eligibility, for instance).

Switching just because is NOT allowed. Waivers are seldom granted.
