I am a vet of 21 years. Yes I am ashame and have a right. We loose wars inside this country not on the battlefields overseas. People protest and feed the enemy all the propagranda they want. We have Clinton, Fonda and Kerry traitors disguised s loyal Americans. During my active duty time there were places in this country that I would not dare wear a uniform. I was treated better on foreign soil than I was on my homeland. I have walked the streets of other countries alone. I would not dfare be on a street in SAF and other cities after dark today. Yes I am ashamed of my country. Not the way you think though> There are many other old vets like me that are madder than hell.

You have that right.
Just like you have the right to move out if you are that ashamed. Go to Canada if you want socialized medicine, but be warned, its not any better then the US military medical and well, look at Walter Reed...
For your information... yes a higher portion of veterans are homeless, but on the flip side, a higher portion of veterans also own thier own home then compared to civilians.
Black people in prision... its not because they cant afford a lawyer, its because the commited a crime. Now you could say they commited a crime because they didnt have money, but thats not what your argument says. Nobody forced them to commit a crime.
What does most of that have to do with serving anyway? You should be proud, the reason you can get on a board like this and proclaim your ashamed is because you did serve. In a lot of other countries, if you claim you are a veteran and say something negative about your country, you can get killed.

Whether or not you are a veteran doesn't mean anything about your rights to be ashamed about anything. Iraq may not have directly done anything for 9/11, but Saddam sure knew there were terrorists training in Iraq. Since he may have not known of 9/11 specifically mean we should have given him a pass? No, because once again he knew there was terrorists in his country and did nothing about it. No WMD, well actually there was. He used them on the Kurds after the first Gulf War. To believe that he used all of them is ridiculous. Our troops did find WMD, however the media that did report it did it in such a way as to discredit the report. Some of what was found was nerve gas in mortar shells, however they said that it was so old as to be inert. Yet you didn't hear them volunteer their homes to have them dismantled. A car that no longer runs is still called a car is it not? The medical insurance issue spans many presidents and is not one to be resolved any time soon. However now is the perfect time for such as an individual, such as yourself, to enter the political arena to correct this problem. Yes look at all the black people in prison, never mind the white, Asian, Hispanic people in prison they are obviously some form of anomaly. If you wish to be ashamed of your country it is your right in the USA to be so. Don't be ashamed that you served.

If you want to be ashamed of your country that's your problem. I served my country proudly from '85-'92, and regardless of what political games are played, I still love my country and am grateful for the opportunities being in the military provided for me. I am not nor have I ever been homeless or imprisoned, but I believe that has a lot to do with how I was brought up and what I have learned along the way. There are plenty of opportunities for all Americans to better themselves, all it takes is getting off your sorry *** and going for it. So next time you want to spout some more nonsense like this, remember you have the right to do so because of veterans who served and died to preserve that right.

I served from '67 'til '69, including 1 year in Vietnam. I am not ashamed of my duty nor my country; but I AM ashamed of the politicians who 'lead' this country, since I believe that they should be 'following' the wishes of the American people.
Yes, I believe that Cheney and his puppets are prepared to attack Iran and are manipulating public opinion so as to gain support for such a ridiculous idea.
Remember that the Israelis destroyed a nuclear plant in Iran back in the 1970s...and they waited until it was almost ready to go "on-line" when they did it. Good move: one plant, 1 bombing run. The US attacking multiple points in Iran: bad move. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail.
Given that, the Pentagon always has contingency plans and computerized battle plans, etc., for the "what-ifs." Lot of good it did in Iraq. God bless those uniformeds on the ground, God damn the 'suits' in D.C.
And let's not forget that we sold (gave?) Saddam many of the WMDs, as did many of our allies (France, Germany, et al.) when he was fighting Iran and his own Kurds, Shiites, et al. Guess he used them all or gave them away...maybe that's why didn't we find any?

My opinion is, You can be bitter and hate any and everyone as much as you can or want to or you can do something about it. Be positive or be a grumpy bunny, your choice. I served 27 years in the Army and Marines and have served from Ford to Bush, It was tough being positive during the Clinton administration, how quickly we forget..... but I chose to.
If you want to be another "Sourpuss", have at it or do something about the way things are, You are not going to change the world whining about this or that but maybe if you just make it a little better? You can complain about all of those that don't have or you can be thankful for what you have.

Do I as a veteran have a right to be ashamed of you? Yes. Do you have a right to be ashamed of the US of A? Yes. It's your 1st amendment right. Freedom of speech. Let's go for another oh maybe the 5th and 6th amendments? All people are given an equal chance before they are sent to prison for defense and possible evasion of punishment. Why do these people commit crimes in the first place? Bad morals, bad judgement? Don't say no where to turn. They're looking for the easy way out. There are SO many programs for peole who are disadvantage. Black, white, asian, indian, middle eastern, pacific islander. It is easy to get help, all you need is effort. And as for the medical insurance. I agree it is sad there are so many americans without health insurance but on the flip side, the countries that have universal health care have higher taxes than us and on a typical appointment they can wait as long as a year for surgery.
The Iraq war? Well as a matter of opinion. Neither of us is right here. I believe Saddam needed to be removed he was dangerous and had the ability to make WMDs whether we found them or not he had the ability to. Iraq was a threat to the US because they harbored terrorists. Look at it as a war on terror not a war on Iraq.
These are all my opinions and you can thank the US of A for letting me have them just like you are allowed to have yours.

\U as a veteran have nothing to be ashamed of, when U joined the forces U did what every enlisted person did. U served your country for the right reasons, the only thing we have to be ashamed of is the government whom we served, not the people of your country. I served 6 years myself and know what it meant. I refused to meet with Margaret Thatcher in Northern Ireland because she sold the country off to foreign investors. I have had the privilege to guard the queen and her family as well as touring certain countries in asia. The so called leaders of all the countries are in it for themselves not to make life better. U stand proud for the time you served, do not be ashamed for doing what you believed was righ for you and the country U served.

You should never be ashamed that you served. You had no choice as to where or what you did as you were following orders. Therefore you should feel proud that you kept America Free, not for the ridiculos Vietnam war, but the fact you were ready and willing to fight for freedom. Its not your fault that Vietnam had nothing to do with our freedom.. Just another war using America's youth to make the military industrial complex more money.
You should be angry at the criminal politicians that sent you there, but also even angrier that after all these years, the same group of evil leaders have done the same thing all over again and the same stupid Americans have supported it from the beginning and didn't learn anything, as 1,000's of American lives are ended or crippled for life and 100's of thousands of innocent Iraqies are killed by modern day war criminals.

Yes sweetheart you have the right to be anything you want.
I was in Nam 68-69, there was a guy in my unit that was perpetually complaining (more than the rest of us that is to say), was that you?
I'll be racking my brain to think of someplace PERFECT for you to go and live and I'll get back to ya when I think of it.
PS-You really should look at the way the 47 million uninsured figure is calculated.
