Is serving the military in the US compulsory? Must all young men report to the military at the right age to serve?

What if you are supposed to serve, but as a young teenager, you emigrated to another country for good and took up its nationality there. Upon return some years later, will you still be obliged to serve? If so, how do you serve?

I'll pre-emptively strike your answer of "the insurgents" because why would Iraqis want us gone if we were doing anything to protect them from insurgents? They are the insurgents or they do not fear the insurgents... either way they want us out.

I'm thinking about a career in the military either as an Intelligence Officer (Navy) or a SEAL (Also Navy) but i know there are many other careers out there in the airforce, marines, and regular army. I'm too lost.

I hear that the AF vehicle mechanics get send to iraq, is that true?? If yes, do they get to fight too?? Because i hear the AF training is a joke, and i don't wanna go there without some good and tough training. If they do fight, i'll go Army instead since they get good training.

What would be good reasons to join?? what are the pros and cons?? I wanna be a vehicle mechanic, will i get a good career in my future or will it be better to be a mechanic in the AF??

I feel that we are? Maybe not this year or next or in 5, but soon. We are already over in Iraq, and then Iran and Korea are messing around with there nukes, and we (Americans) think that every country should have a democracy government. the reason to invade Iraq was WMD. What if it was true and Saddam pressed RED BUTTON? How many american soldiers would die? What do you think: Did Bush know that there was no WMD? Or he was ready to sacrifices so many american lives? Why not air-strikes instead of putting troops on the ground?

The people of this country should be told what those terrorist and thugs did to our two soldiers. The press cries foul when we toss rap music at al queda prisoners for a few hours; so where is the foul cry now that our two soldiers have been murdered and tortured? Why not tell us what happened to them? The public should know what we are fighting.
