the news media are afraid that people may want revenge and start supporting the war if they knew what happened. And the news media can do or say anything that may help Bush and the war movement

Should the public know? It is pretty much implied, If the bodies need DNA testing there is a good chance they were either beaten to a pulp, or beheaded, or both. Why they surrendered is beyond me, I hope it was because they were knocked unconscious after an explosion or something.
I think out of respect for the families they should not go into the details.
I would hate to turn on the tv and hear how my child was beaten and decapitated.
Here is a better question, why isnt the press still going after bush about still being there? Oh I know, it is because, they wouldnt be supporting our troops, or because they are the evil Liberal Media just trying to further their liberal agenda.
Here is a tip, dont trust the media. Dig deep, and put together the pieces. All the info is out there, but every news story is like a puzzle, you just have to find the pieces. Even if it means going to Al-Jazeera, Ogrish.com, or even some of the conspiricy sites.

However there is need to make sure that the public is sent information that leads the terrorist to think that they are gaining some ground on the American public. When terrorist see that the American public is becoming weary of the killings and the means of those killing, they feel that if they do it more than someday we’ll get to a point which the troops will be called back. The media will publish anything bad about the government; things that are good will only be published in the rarest of cases. We don’t in any way hear of the good thing in Iraq, schools and other buildings now in building.

They do know my friend! But when bleeding heart librals start sticking their noses into matters then the rest of the American public start to fall silent in fear of standing up for the very rights those two brave soldiers died for. You don't have to agree on the war or with the president, but when young men and women are sent from this country to fight a war then we should stand behind them with as much resolve as they take into combat. We don't want any body to die, but the brutality of our enemy has to be met with exstreme pregedice. Mistreatment of American POWs has always been overlooked by the world, but when we deside to give their POWs a little bit of American culture ie. Rap Music then it is looked on as torture. I think we should just honor those two brave American soldiers with our highest award for bravery the CMH, because they were taught in training the Geneva Covention and how they should treat enemy POWs, so they were probably thinking they would get the same. The moment they knew they weren't getting the same treatment became "ABOVE THE CALL OF DUTY". But alas my soap box time is coming to an end, because as an American (Army). I Know some bleeding heart libral like Hillary is about to wet their pants over reading my comments. I just want to say GOD BLESS THOSE SOLDIERS AND THEIR FAMILIES "No greater love ath any man, less he lay down his life for a friend" Those guys thought we were their friends.

Oh I think it was pretty irresponsible to say 8,000 troops were deployed to search for them. If I were a bad guy trying to tie up coalition troops in a bloody fight, I think that would be a pretty fair diversion while I moved around & did as I pleased. The details of what happened to them would I'm sure be a bit uncivilized. The respose though, beside still less support for our mission, would be that the enemy is evil & you fight evil by the example of good - when of course the answer in war has always been to make war so terrible on the enemy that they can no longer stay in it.

ABSOLUTELY!! I agree with you 100%!! The press in this country paints us as ugly as they can, but the enemy?? They are somehow free from criticism. The same was true during and after the Vietnam War. The press does enough breast beating on behalf of this country to the point of favoring our enemies. I guess that is the price we pay for a free press; however, I would never want a state controlled press either.

I agree! I knew one of those soldiers. He was beheaded and so badly tortured that his body is being flown back to the U.S. for DNA testing. It is the liberal media that drives this war into the ground and make it sound like a "Bush" led plot for revenge. They need to grow up. I will always support our troops and the great job they are doing. I, unlike so many people living in this country, love America! Country comes first. Then political party.

NO! My brother had to do bereavement duty, which means for 6 months he had to notify family members that there was a killed in action casualty.
The worst thing he said was the grief. They want to be left alone! How would you like turning on the TV and hearing the gory details of your son's death?
Let it go, just leave them some privacy. Or is YOUR need to know more important than THEIR sacrifice?

You rock! Finally someone has some common sense. The press is fine with the kidnap and torture of our soldiers, but when we do anything wrong, we are expected to apologize to the world.

Bush doesn't even want photographers taking pictures of the coffins that come back from Iraq, so why would he leak out all the details?
The parents need some peace and privacy during this time to grieve. We should respect that.
