If our soldiers lives are so important, why aren't they provided with adequate protection? For example, Cher has to advocate for protective helmets, and I had to provide a bullet proof vest for my brother in Bosnia.

My son is interested in joining the Navy. He had a drug misdemeanor 4 years ago. He is currently on deferred adjudicated probation for a Felony that happened 3 years ago. He is almost through with his Felony probation, the charges will be dropped once it is completed. He wants to go into the Navy, but isn't sure if this will affect his chances of joining. Will he be able to join the Navy with his past record?

If the 7 U.S. Marines and 1 U.S. Navy Corpsman are found not guilty in a court martial will those who have already found them guilty here and in the media accept that, or will they just call it a white wash on the part of the Marine Corps? Seems to me as far as much of the public is concerned they are in a no win situation. It's too bad when people fighting for our freedoms aren't accorded the most basic of protections under the constitution....that being the presumption of innocense. I'm glad we no longer have lynch mobs.

Last week, two missing U.S. soldiers were found tortured and beheaded (see first link for details).

Now, Five U.S. Army soldiers are under investigation for allegedly raping an Iraqi woman then killer her and three family members (see second link for details).

It is of interest that both stories have a common link: the troops were all assigned to the 502nd Infantry Regiment both incidents happened near Youssifiyah.

This is still under investigation, but do you suspect that the tortured troops were retaliation for violating a woman and killing her and her family?

I have never been able to fully understand why Lee ordered this attack given that he clearly was at such a disadvantage terrain wise. Also, he had a pretty good idea what he was up against troop strength wise on the Federal side. Was he pressed by the poltics of the moment (ie the need for a victory to seal British recognition of the Confederacy), did he suffer some sort of mental incapacity (ie a fatal senior moment), did he succumb to planted or faulty 'intelligence'? What is known about this decsion and what is your opinion?
