Some of the answers to your questions have been the stupidest things I have ever read. Especially coombs_1973.
Name a war that the US has won since it's own civil war??? Yes they helped quite a bit in WWII but ever since then the US has done nothing but stick their noses into everything and lose face doing it. By general count I think the US is 0 for 5.
Having said that others who have answered your question could be right. Sadly we could be in one now. Nobody ever really knows the start of a world war until after the war is over and the victors write the history books.
ie. WWI started with the assassination of an Arch Duke, right now, the Isralies have invaded the Gaza strip and are fighting the Palestinians over a kidnapped Corporal and one killed teenager. Is that enough to start a war? We'd like to think that it isn't in this day in age but you never know how things escilate.
Major events do not have to happen.... it just takes two to tango and two more to join in.
The thought of war starting over oil is a thing of the past. Too many countries (including the US) could easily create alternative forms of fuel without having to resort to war and most would on order to avoid it.
For those that think that the US have many Allies, don't forget that Japan was an ally in WWI and an enemy 20 years later, and that Russia was an Ally in WWII and an enemy 1 year later. Nobody actually likes the states, they just do what they can to avoid them before you get all pissed off like you always do.

First, define "soon" in real terms, i.e. "days, weeks, months, years".
Seriously, this is mere speculation on my part- I believe we'll be involved in another global conflagration within the next ten years, and it will be fought over energy, i.e. petroleum and natural gas resources in the Middle East.
Anyone seen that movie, "Three Days of the Condor"? Or the clip with Redford asking about us having a plan to invade the Middle East? Just wondering.
If you want a more in-depth answer to this question, go check out From The Wilderness, or get a copy of "Crossing the Rubicon" by Michael C. Ruppert.
Mankind has had a major war every fifty years or so, on average, for the bulk of recorded history. Why the past fifty years should be any exception is beyond me. We're overdue for a war- not that I want one, mind you- history shows us as overdue, is all.

No, the UN was created to prevent a world war from happening and even i don't think they do a good enough job the only place a world war could happen right now is in the middle east and when the US takes out Iran there will be no superpower in that region. Europe is cool with each other so no war there and Asia is advancing in technology but US would stop a world war from happening at almost any cost( of course w/o nukes) to prevent nuclear war because as you all know it takes one country to launch for them all to.

Lets hope not...If we did have WW III, there will be NO WINNER. That will be the War to end the World. Every Nation with nuclear weapons will use them against one another.

No, there is only one country at a time going against the US. However, we have several Allies against each country thinking of going against us. I guess when you are right other countries know.
