Totalitarians.

The ACLU defends ALL...it doesn't make a judgement of whether they're right or wrong.

If you're in favor of freedom of speech then you should be willing to fight for the freedom of speech that you disagree with otherwise your beliefs are meaningless.

Therefore anyone who thinks the ACLU is anti-american for challenging the U.S. government is totalitarian at heart and wishes that everyone would follow his/her personal beliefs.

Most definitely....they are also anti-intelligence. Check out the response to the two American soldiers brutally murdered in Iraq....if you can find one. What if it was American soldiers who had committed the crime? It would be front page news and the ACLU would be crying foul...

So much of the answer depends upon how you define American and anti-American. If it is anti-American to dissent, to speak out, to challenge discrimination...then one would have to say the ACLU is anti-American. However, if one values the First Amendment and if one believes that no American should ever be discriminated against, then one would have to say the ACLU is very much American and pro-American.

the aclu has an agenda that is not in step with middle America. Theirs is from liberal minded people who don't want opinions and beliefs forced on them but don't mind in the least forcing their opinions and beliefs on everyone else.

Mr. cocksman, where was the aclu defending the rights of high school kids who were punished for wearing "homosexuality is a sin" shirts to school. Are they not entitled to their first amendment right? not if it goes against the aclu's agenda i guess.

Actually, I think the ACLU stands for everything that America stands for. For example, the right to assemble peacefully is in the Constitution, and if the KKK want to parade through the town, then it's their right, and ACLU will defend it. I just think that these principles are taken to the extremes oftentimes, because one person's rights should not infringe on someone else's rights.

The ACLU is very anti-American, and the aims of the organization contributes nothing more than the slow demoralization of the fabric of our nations society.

I think they are. I believe they get federal monies to
put down America. They are not fighting to make this
a better place to live, but to always cause friction pushing
their own agenda that doesn't always favor America. I
think America would be better off without them and their
advice.

Well, they protect American Civil Liberties. How can that be anti-American? Is it anti-American to have a watchdog agency that tries to guarantee our rights?
