I hear that the AF vehicle mechanics get send to iraq, is that true?? If yes, do they get to fight too?? Because i hear the AF training is a joke, and i don't wanna go there without some good and tough training. If they do fight, i'll go Army instead since they get good training.

We are stationed at a special ops base, and no, air force training is not a joke. The mechanics are there to repair, and you would have a specialty, a certain type of plane, or helocopter, or vehicle, etc.. Everyone is trained to "fight" as you word it. That's why everyone in the military has physical standards they have to meet not just when you join but every year there after. Yes you probably would go over seas if you were a mechanic, they need people to fix whatever they are using. It's a high pressure job. One of my friend's husbands is training to be an plane mechanic, and he'll be gone away from his family for 9 months to train. Who ever told you airforce doesn't train well is crazy.
One of my friends does special ops tactical, they coordinate the air attacks, sound like an easy job to you? They dump their students off in the middle of nowhere with nothing but a compass and they have to find their way back.
The air force is one of the best branches, they treat their people well in comparison to other branches, especially if you have a family.
You don't necessarily just get to choose what you do when you enter the air force you take a test and they tell you what you can do. Be careful because all recruiters, no matter what branch will try to get you to take the bum wrap jobs nobody else wants, that's what they get paid for, they have quotas to meet.
The military can be a great career, but realize they own you if your enlisted, and it may mean a lot of time over seas fighting, and maybe giving your life to serve your country.
My husband has done 8 years enlisted and he just got commissioned to be an officer.
There are many different careers in the military.
Do more research don't just believe what people tell you, especially people who aren't in the military themselves.
PS Special Ops is hard to get into, if your serious about it, start working out now, the training is even harder for special ops. I see them doing things to train on base you couldn't pay me enough to do, so think hard before making a commitment

If you wish to fight, you are not joining the military for the right reasons. It matters not how much training you receive or who you receive it from, but how much you can retain and use during a situation. No amount of training will stop a bullet from reaching it's intended target. Look back and reflect on all the military members that have been injured or died. No amount of training could have prevented this from happening. USAF Retired.
