i am currently a serving police officer in the UK but have always wanted to be a cop in the US! Can i join or do i have to be a US citizen? i know that about 2yrs ago a cop from the US joined the Met (London) police but left because he thought it was more dangerous then policing in the US.

thanks!

How is it that you can be within walking distance of a police precinct and have your car broken into? And then when the police is called it takes twenty minutes to get there. Serve and protecting who? People think that just because a precinct is placed in a "high crime" neighborhood that work does not need to be done in that neighborhood. Clean up around your home then work on your surroundings. You can write me a ticket for going over the speed limit miles away from your area, yet you have criminals right under your nose stealing, and killing. Could it be because financial gain is more important or are they just scared to really protect and serve?

I gave all the evidence to the police at my school and they said they are ready to make an arrest against the student that stalked me and sent terrorizing messages.......but now I am getting scared! I just know that if he knows I went to the police he will retaliate and make my life miserable. He also has to sit through a judicial review at my school, and he will use it as an opportunity to slander me and say I am a slut whore that wanted him........or he will tell the police I am a drug addict or prostitute or something......What should I do? I want to do it to protect all the women in the future that may be terrorized by him......I just hate all the names.....I hate being called fat, ugly, and slutty by him. At the judicial review he will turn it all around and say I am a psycho path. What should I do? Has anyone out there ever had a stalker arrested or made charges against someone that abused you.....Will I have to testify in court? Or will they just use my statements.......?

I am on h4 visa.
I was arrested for shoplifting in NEWYORK and hired a good attorney.

I pleaded NOT guilty On my first court date appearance.

On second court date i was offered an ACOD ( adjournment in contemplation of dismissal), if i take a class called STOPLIFT.

Even though i pleaded not guilty, will taking the stoplift class be considered by the Immigration INS as admitting guilt to theft ( misdemeanor?)

If i was not on a visa and was USA born, then Acod would means that after 6 months of stayiing out of trouble , my record would be sealed and noone could ever access it..
But i am on a visa.

NEWYORK DOES NOT HAVE EXPUNGEMENT OF RECORDS.

Today I got my first speeding ticket... I was going 100 on a 55 (mph) and the cop gave me the ticket for 65 mph... He told me to go to court and get it dismissed because I had a clean driving record, and that I could plead something (for having a clean driving record)... Does anyone know what he is talking about, because I've been trying to research what he was talking about and had no luck... Should I just go to court and plead not guilty??? What happens from there???

Nothing happens in our town but the newspaper reports on it every week anyway. It will have paragraphs that say - Pine Lane resident called to report strange truck in neighbors driveway - police responded and found it was landscaper mowing the lawn. Or man called to say that the light in the library was burning all night. Does your local paper do this and do you have any funny stories?

I am interested in joining a law enforcement agency in San Diego. For my age (20), they make decent amount of money, and i always thought of joining the military, but the whole "Iraq War" discouraged me...

Anyways, i was wondering if anyone knew any resources i could use to help determine what agency i should look into, or if anyone has any expereinces or advice.

Front runners are SDPD, and CHP. SDPD because i would like to work Elusively in San Diego, and i can continue to go tho school at night, while attending police academy in the morning. But i hear as a city cop you mostly deal with ghetto ppl, junkies, and domestic violence. CHP because, like previously stated, i was interested in military and they say their more military-style.

I also hear theres money to be made in Customs, or Border Patrol, not really into Sheriff's...

ok... any information/advice is welcomed.
thank you.

All of my life, I have met nothing but A**hole police officers. Why is that? Is it just a power complex, or being given too much freedom and they just run with it? Or are people who are drawn to LE just naturally flawed and have no life?

Please discuss, I really am curious.

We had a lively debate today on the pros and cons of police in london stopping more people of ethnic minorities with the Stop and Search laws. Is it for the good of the community? or does it break down barriers when there is no 'apparent' reason for the search?

Does anyone know if the police can call you and ask you questions about a potential crime? And if you are not Mirandized if those comments can be used against you in a court of law?

If the cops come to your house and knock to do a "well" check because someone called them that you might be in trouble, are you obligated to open the door? Can they bust the door in if no one answers and the house is quiet?

I'm talking about Texas, btw.

If you are driving someone else's car, registered in their name, yet their car isn't insured & you were to get pulled over, who would get the ticket for no insurance, legally? The reason is I ask is because my car is going to need worked on. My boyfriend usually lets me drive his car when mine is being worked on. But his car isn't insured. I have no other way around. I'm afraid if I were to get in a road block or something & the car isn't insured, that I'd get a ticket. So I'm wondering if I'd get the ticket or if the owner of the car (the one it's registered to) would get the ticket. If you know (for a fact), please answer. Thanks!

....mind you, the coppers in Egypt are even more bent than you are! We asked for directions to Luxor Temple and the corrupt bast*ard wanted a "back hander"! I told him that "he would fit in well with the Manchester "police"" and he asked me to put in a word for him! I,m going back in February, so I may bring him back to meet you! Clowns of the world UNITE!
