If you have a caller ID it would be easier to discover who has called you but of course report it and tell the police that it is potentially dangerous call. If it happens again keep track of each call, the time of day and if you recognize the voice too. Report each and every call because it's not funny and could be really dangerous to ignore and let the police know this too. If the police don't take it serious then keep calling after every call and if that doesn't work then go to the police station and file a report stating just what was said by the caller as well as what the police might have said to you.
You deserve protection and if there are any children in your home take them some were safe until this matter has been taken care of.
Best of luck and be careful too.

Had this problem about 14 yrs ago, when someone would call and just sit there, no noise just open line. I called my local phone company and they referred me to the police and I just basically told them what what happening. They kept an open line (tap) on my line for a certain amount of time and then told me they have made the connection as to what was going on. They recommend that I change my number to either a private line but if it happens again any changes I have to make I would have to pay for it as obviously I have given this number to the person. Never did find out who it was and it never happened again.

You report it first to the phone company. They will monitor where the calls are comming from.

Better. Get a refs whistle and keep it next to the phone, if its a prank call just blow your little lungs out down the line. They wont call back.

caller id and a voice message so as to obtain digits and potential threat(s). This can be shown to a police officer, get them to come to your home and make a report. Obtain the report and follow up if it happens again. Depending on the threat it will be followed up on.
