Law Enforcement & Police - November 2007

My cousin killed herself at 18 before her sentencing, and I have a friend who killed himself the night before his sentencing.

I also had a friend who went back to England before sentencing and ended up dying shortly after that.

Have you lost any friends or family shortly before sentencing?

I thought the place was supposed to be secured. If its not do I have a right to move back in to protect my property. Can I fight an eviction notice in Court even if the writ was served by a sheriff

I have a relative in my family who has been charged with about 22 charges of police corruption - one of them involved planning a kidnap for exhortion.
Of course, they have been stood down in the force.
They havn't been sentenced as yet.
This is my concern.
My family treat this person normally as though he has done no wrong. Of course, I know we all do wrong, but I am very wary of him and feel as though he is a bad example of how an Officer in the force should be.
As a result, me and my family have distanced ourselves from him and we have been told that we are the bad guys and to just accept him and get on with life.
It's very hard knowing that he was involved in assisting a pedophille get off.
What do you think?
Do you think we should just carry on as normal and pretend he did no wrong?

when you see a speed camera what is your normal reaction?
brake.....the following car is expecting that? no....result crush.
speed cameras and talivans cause; distress, havoc, terror and police get a bad name because of that ; If not right let me

I live in New York state, where talking on your cell phone is banned. But I saw a cop doing that today. Are they allowed to, or is it just because no one can do anything about it? I would think they would want to be examples to the rest of us. The cops in my area have plenty of funding so its not like they can't afford bluetooth headsets for them.

I have been doing research online thru the MD case search history; someone we know has a active traffic violation against them- will give the specifics; need info on how this affects driving, job, etc. worried about the son's wellbeing...

What I'm worried about-- I'm stepmom, me and my husband live a block away-- I'm tired of her playing the poor pity me game-- on the court docket report online it says failure to appear suspension- so I take that to me she now has a suspended license; if i see her driving can i call the police and say i know she driving with a suspended- she and her sister both have this, and i worried what will happen if either are stopped while she has the child in the car with her? Would they call me and my husband to take the son, etc.

this is bull$hit! i live in a state of usa where i am 17 and my girl at 16. 2 months apart and one night we drinking and oral sex one time. got out to her papa and he dont like me so he called police and I was sent to local presinct, questioned and issued an attorney. they say im being charged with criminal sexual predator abuse, also known class a misdeomeaner, so i couldd do up to one year and pay 2500$. I legally cannot talk with the girl but it was not rape and herr parents hate me. why are these laws so screwed up? will i serve a whole year/? im not a sexual predator and will i have to register as one?

Okay so my husband has been obsessing over this gun for a while. He is graduating and getting his Criminal Justice degree soon (to be a police officer) and I've been saving up for 8 months and want to get it for him as a graduation present. I know that some departments will let you use your own gun if it's within regulations, so in case he gets hired on to a department that will, I want to make sure that I get him the best possible 'model' of this gun for the job. I thought it would be easy because I know what he wants but now that I've started looking I'm seeng all these different types - ACP, 4-inch, 5-inch, compact...somebody help me and tell me what EXACTLY I should get for him. I know he can always take it back and exchange it but I'd be a much cooler wife and it would be so much better if I can get it right the first time. Please help!!! If you're a cop tell me what you'd pick to carry on duty!

If you witness a theft or a murder or any kind of crime, what are the laws in the United States regarding your LEGAL obligation to report it.

I was doing this ride-along, and my officer pulled this car over for driving with no headlights, and when my officer instruct me to come out, the lady was so rude, cussing and screaming, but my officer was so patience and calm, he told me that other officer would probably arrested her. i am a police officer in the uk, as you prob know not all officers carry guns, only the armed division!
all we get is an asp, c.s spray and cuffs!

My teacher said it was pro-order and then all of a sudden she said its pro-liberty because of the time it was cased in (1968). So I really don't get it. It seems like both. But I'm going to type a paper on it, so I need to know which one is deifnetly it ( I guess pro-order?). Please help.
