US Police Officers!!?

Question

i am a police officer in the uk, as you prob know not all officers carry guns, only the armed division!
all we get is an asp, c.s spray and cuffs!
whats it like to carry your gun, and the first time you had to use it, what was the situation?

Most police officers do not ever actually use their guns. The fact that they have them is enough of a deterrent. A gun is the highest on the hierarchy of force. Usually pepper spray, or a taser, is adequate.
