Once called "America's Sheriff by Larry King, Orange County Sheriff Carona has been indicted for accepting bribes in exchange for special treatment and even for jobs as assistant sheriff!

My favorite part has to be that both his wife and his mistress were also indicted.

So my 20 yr old brother was just walking at night when all the sudden cops are screaming at him to get on the floor while a cop puts his knee on his back. checks his backpack finds nothing but his breath smells like alcohol but not drunk at all, then keeps him all night & day long not telling him what he did wrong & the next day finally calls my mom & charges 500 dollars & yesterday sentenced him for 3 days in jail with no contact with us. doesn't this sound harsh!!!!!

I know that drugs can harm people. And I know people don't all agree with my stance, that criminalizing drugs is what causes gangs and mafia stuff. But I just think if there's a tip on a house where drugs are supposedly located. And knowing that the occupants are two parents and two teenagers for example. Why the heck are the cops busting in there in the middle of the night? At what point did this become a good initiative. It's dangerous and foolish. For what, because of a tip? If they don't have evidence, this seems to be the greatest most tragic practice in the world. I believe in these cases that a few innocent victims DOES make these raids wrong. I get the feeling that either police don't care at all, or that they are following orders from corrupt executives. I need some cops to give me another opinion. Society needs police, and I thank those for their good service. But I'm having trouble with this.

By useless I mean, it's supposed to be a quick recovery device, but if that's true, isn't kind of hard for cops to make use of restraining the suspect, if they can't touch while tazing, and tazing doesn't really work unless while tazing. Does that make sense?

I got pulled over by the school resource officer (I believe he's a deputy) off of school property (not far though, up the street). He asked to see my school ID (not once my license) and took my registration and insurance card. He said to come to his office tomorrow morning for my ticket, and refused to return my registration and insurance card.

Do I have legal ground to fight this on?

As I stated before, I received a traffice ticket and have had to get two payment extensions already....I have paid on the ticket and I do have some money to pay on the ticket tomorrow, however I still do not have the ENTIRE amount due. Will have it by the end of the week...Will I be in trouble in court with the judge tomorrow?

In Australia, if a statement is made by an alledged victem of crime the police can then press charges against the offender regardless of wether the victem wishes to persue the issue or not. Does this sound fair? This means if you and your best mate have a fight and some-one calls the police, you will be asked to make a statement and your friend could face criminal charges at the police's decision! This means if some-one makes a false statement, the police will charge you and there is nothing you can do about it. The explanation to this is to stop excessive call outs for domestic disputes, which is pathetic because once charges are laid they spend more time in the court room and doing paperwork than protecting the innocent. I thought the Police were meant to enforce the law and the determination of wether a person is guilty was meant for the courts? Charges should only be laid at the request of a VICTEM not the police. What do you think?

If a 19 year old, male, Illinois resident is on parole for a juvenile felony and violates this parole by not calling and checking in at the required times (he was staying with different friends everynight because he was technically homeless - which is also a parole violation) what is the maximum time that he can go back to jail for?

Some cops are very reactive when citizens learn about their civil rights, their constitutional right to videotape interactions with them, what constitute a violation of civil rights and a reason to file a citizen's complaint, etc.

Why do some cops mind literate, informed citizens so much? Why do some resent citizens that take action against brutality and violations successfully, so bitterly?

I am a horrible driver, get tickets constantly. I currently have a lawyer who charges $350 per ticket and gets me out of every one, completely erases it off my record. Now I got a couple in Kittitas county and she said those are $400 a piece. That seems kind of high, does anyone know any lawyers that will get me out of these for cheaper? Thanks

Okay, so I was molested when I was younger I waited 5 years to tell about it and when I did nothing happened to the guy. I know this person who was assaulted last week and once they find the guy he is being punished. I'm very upset that they are punishing him and not the guy that did it to me. They had this persons story in every local newspaper and on the news so that people were aware that this happened and to be careful. When I told no one was told and I think that people should have been told so that they could have been aware. Am I over reacting?

There's a perv that walks around my apartment complex in the early morning hours, and late at night, and tries to corner girls.

I noticed him this morning looking into our apartment. I didn't know it was him, and was watching his behavior. He then dropped his pants and proceeded to jack off. I ran over the window and immediately shut the curtains. I live in a town with a very innocent mentality and all of my roommates, are virgins, in every sense of the word. They leave the curtains and blinds open all the time.

I've adopted a motherly nature towards them, and don't want them to have to see that.

I don't know who I should call if this happens again. I feel like maybe 911 is too much, since it is not an emergency. Any ideas?

i have a case coming up at the end of november for a robbery that took place 2 years ago.

i was working as a clerk in a gas station while attending college and towards the end of november i was robbed 2 times within 3 nights by the same person. there was no physical harm done, i did have a slight panic attack the second time however. none of my money was taken and i voluntarily left my job and was not going to be fired. i did have nightmares for a month or two after the situation.

this is being brought up now because there was a spree of robberies by these two guys in west virginia and pennsylvania and i suppose they are getting off on parole in wv so they are attempting to try them in pittsburgh at the end of the month.

i was curious if for any reason i could file a civil suit against any specific party.

thanks
