I know that most police officers are initially hazed when they first join. But what I am concerned about is that I am gay and think I will experience increased hazing. A little about me. Even though I am gay I don’t make a big deal about it. (I will tell people I am gay, but will not divulge my personal life [unless asked directly.] Not very flamboyant (Scale 1 Least to 10 Most) I am 3 and occasionally 4. But moving on I was just wondering if anybody knows the degree of hazing I would experience.

I could take a local or a state job and use that experiance and get in later, but for now I'm wondering what starting/entry level federal jobs are out there in Law Enforcement with the Feds. I already know of a handful.

Probation Officer (or Probation Officer Assistant depending on district)...
Postal Inspector (did hear it requires a year first in general employment with the postal service, so it's not really 'entry' level)...
Border Patrol/INS (though my vision fails their standard)...
Secret Service (same as above but it's closer, though I've also heard they only theoretically hire entry level, in practice they only hire those w/ experiance)...

What else is there out there that allows entry level into a federal law enforcement job? (IE it has a GS rank or equivalent, and it has either/or arrest powers, firearms cert., or some form of criminal investigative authority). Marshalls and FBI are out since they only hire prior exp or Masters degree, but what about the IRS, etc?

I'm 15 and my dad is a Corrections Officer; his knees aren't in great shape from his college football days so he is usually placed in the "friendlier" facilities where they don't have problems with riots, violence, etc. This usually means he is in the facility for the sex offenders. A few months ago I charged a man with sexual abuse and he was found guilty. This morning I found out that he is going to be placed in my fathers usual facility. This makes me feel VERY nervous as this man knows what my father looks like and his name. Am I just overreacting? I'm afraid that my dad might get hurt and it's going to be all my fault...

Here is the story. I am fairly certain that I meet the qualifications to become a police officer in SoCAL. Criminal History: None (Not even as a child) Physical Fitness: Excellent (20 BMI, 9 % body fat, track in college), nearsighted but can be corrected by contacts. Educational History: Associates Degree, Bachelors degree (Psychology major) minor Criminal Justice. Job History: Excellent. (Never have been terminated) Psychological: Normal taken MMPI nothing minor/major So you might be asking what is the problem is? I feel that my sexual orientation (gay) will have an effect on me being selected.

I was told that in some states, if u dont live in the stat that gave u a speeding ticket and it comes time to mail the payment in. U just make it out for more money and the stat will mail u back a refund check. If u never cash it then it will never compleet your ticket and it would never be on any record or what not.

I recently got a ticket and while looking into it I found that the person that wrote the ticket put down wrong info. I do know that the only way to void a ticket is if its a major error, When I was looking for resource it did say that if the model, color, or year of the car was wrong on the ticket i do have the right to get it void, is this right?

I'm writing a paper and need to mention something about I think what is called trail of evidence. I took a class on search and seizure a while back and something was said about how if police use an informant they need to keep him in their sight the entire time to keep a trail of evidence? Is that the right term? I googled it and nothing is popping up. Also, on a side not if you've gone to law school how difficult is it? Would you recommend it?

How do you transport a firearm internationally?

I have a very old (about 120 year old) hand gun that was my great grandfather's in Argentina. It was passed down from my Great Grandfather to my Grandfather then to my Father....

My father will like to pass it on to me, problem is I live in Florida and the handgun is in Argentina. Is there anyway I can transport this gun to Florida?

I will be in Argentina next month, but i doubt i can bring it back in cargo.

Additonal Details that may be important: The Gun has serial numbers but the registration has been lost for years. The gun does not function.

This happened a few years ago and it's always just left me wondering, so I wanted to get some thoughts from law enforcement.

We were out of town for about a week, locked all the doors, set timers for the lamps, did everything we could for safety's sake. Arrived back home after vacation to find our garage door wide open, random lights left on in the house, ceiling fans running, and most oddly this antique rocking chair we had set in the corner of our basement was dragged out into the midding of the room, facing out the basement picture windows (that look out onto a golf course) like someone was just sitting there enjoying the view.

Nothing was missing from the house, or seemed to be tampered with besides these few things. The police came out and the only thing they could tell us was that there were scratches, from a ring, on the garage door handle, and none of us wear a ring.

For law enforcement people, have you seen this before and if so what happened? Other opinions?

If a copy of a video was discovered on a computer, how could an investigator tell if the suspect knew the video was there in the first place? Also, what are some ways the owner can deny knowledge of the video?

Hi, I will travel to Minnesota this weekend to take care of a matter in court for a Misdameanor warrant for theft for $13.00. I paid the bail of $300.00 and it was my first offence there. My question is, will the judge just fine me, since I live in Chicago and my court date is on a Monday and I will leave that same day but can't take it if he tells me to do something like community service or go to a theft class while I have to get back to work the next day I mean would I have to find a class @ my home town or do community service or what, but I was told that the $300.00 was towards my bail and court cost etc. So I hope all I have to do is pay a fine, and I was nver taking into custody, no finger prints or picture all they have on me is my driver licsense # and current address so when it's over would they finger print me then to put me into the system or what please let me know people, Thank You.

I was convicted of a felony 10 years ago. I went to court to get it "expunged" about 5 years ago. Could I ever get a job in law enforcement? what about government jobs? Do I have to admit it on an application that asks, "have you EVER been convicted of a felony. to be safe, I have been admitting it and explaining it to the employer but I hate having to admit and explain it; it is embarrassing.

He didn't even know it was suspended. It was suspended in 3/06 - four months after his brain aneurysm! Maybe he DID forget to pay a ticket - give this kid a break. You do lose memory with brain surgery! They have left him sitting in jail for 4 days now. He was supposed to see the judge today, but the judge didn't show. He was arrested in one county (after another driver hit his car - a driver with no license and no insurance I must add), and I paid $200 to that jail to bond him out, only to find out he was going to be transferred to the county that issued the warrant so that he could sit in that jail now! I find it hard to believe this is general practice. What can I do?
