You sound like someone who tried to get smart with a cop and ended up losing. Newsflash, if you don't resist, they will go easy as well.

Just because a woman is 85 does not mean she is frail. Especially when she's weilding a 13 inch butcher knife, clearly off her rocker and won't cooperate with an armed officer. What would YOU do? Leave her there to stab at neighbor children and pets or her family? Would you just walk up to her and take the knife from her? DO you think you could get it from her before she stabs you? If you have a problem with officers it's probably because you have a criminal background. Those are the people that usually complain about how unfair the law is.

I have never seen anything close to excessive force on COPs. That show displays the tamest of encounters.

You need to walk a mile in a cop's shoes before you make any accusations at all.

Ever hear of an armchair quarterback or Monday morning quarterback. Its real easy to say what you would have done from your couch.

First I think your generalizing and second its completly understandable. Every time they have to deal with the public they probably have to wonder if this is some nut who is going to try to kill them. They have a life and death job and if they are going to make a mistake on the amount of force needed I would think they would rather error on the side of their safty by using extra force. The real question is that if this is true of police then why do people keep giving them an excuse to "smash them to the ground"?

If they feel their lives are in danger I believe they have the right to do whatever is necessary to prevent harm to themselves or their partners. Cops wouldn't tackle an 85 y/o woman unless she was diobeying a direct order. If they asked her to put her hands behind her head and she decided to try and escape somehow I believe they can then use force.

I think that you are overreacting. They would never do that to an old woman. I think that you just hate cops. Shame on you.

They are attempting to intimidate the entire public. That is always what excessive force is about. That's why the U.S. military attack upon Iraq was called "Shock and Awe." They were attempting to intimidate the entire Iraqi population into submission.
