wow, thats why I LOATHE insurance companies. To be honest, (I'm going out on a limb here) 75% of our reported "stolen vehicles" are what we like to call "drug loaners." The owner of the vehicle "loans" his vehicle to the dealer/guy who can get the drugs and when the owner doesn't see his vehicle the next day, he wants to report it stolen. I get this crap ALL OF THE TIME....and to top it off, the owner usually KNOWS who has/had the vehicle but won't say for fear of being held liable if the vehicle is damaged/used in a crime......you're truly getting the short end of the stick my friend.

The insurance company must grant the claim and it must run after the owner of the vehicle involved in the accident.

Check with your own insurance company. If they refuse to cover you as well, then it is time to talk to an attorney.
It is possible to hold the owner of the stolen car responsible for your loss, IF (note big if) it can be shown that he was careless in securing the car.

This is the main reason people get uninsured motorist coverage. The car was stolen and the people who stole obviously weren't on the owner's policy.
Unless you can prove some sort of dishonesty on the car owner's part like he knew who was driving it and did the old "if you wreck it you stole it" routine you're out of luck.

That's a very tricky one, and demonstrates perfectly why everyone hates insurance companies. Unless they catch the guys, I think you might get screwed over. Talk to a lawyer. Good luck.

Get an attorney. They will give you a free consultation. That way you'll know for sure.
