Law Enforcement & Police - November 2006

So I was pulled over today by a police officer, he said he checked my plates and they went back to my last car that I traded in towards this new car. So basically my plates didn't match the car I was driving, but the registration is under my name and I own both cars, so it's not like a stolen plate/car. I'm not hurting anyone, except for myself. He didn't give me a citation on the spot. He said he was going to mail it, and he wouldn't tell me how much of a ticket I'd be getting. Anyone know? It's not like a drunk driving ticket or something extreme, so I hope it doesn't hurt my wallet. If it helps I'm in the state of Pennsylvania. (I know these things differ in different parts of the country)

There are four used/spent/empty fireworks in my street from my neighbours firework party. There must be hundreds of thousands of them all over the country now!
I know its petty...Its only a question,I'm not going to report everyone!

If someone collects the money (Illegally) to help someone (Also Illegally) but, the money is not used for the exact purpose since very long and he, himself spent or not shown any account since it is collected. How the law defines this? Farud, Extortion, Corruption practice or some other way? Thank You.

I am not a partypooper but when you have a young child trying to get to sleep and can't for the noise you feel like wringing their necks whoever are setting them off late.

Look at Colin Stagg, accused of the horrific murder of Rachel Nickel, now they have the right guy, but they set honey traps etc, to get a conviction.
Look at that poor guy, mistaken for a terrorist, and shot to death on a tube in London. Another officer has been jailed for leaking information to a drug gang, in exchange for designer suits, the list goes on....do you trust our police force, i find it a bit worrying, when i read stories like this., and they seem to get away with everything, that joe ordinary would be jailed for. What is your opinion? It really annoys me.

I have a temporary Order of Protection issued against an ex-girfriend in New York State. No children, never lived together, etc. She called me on the telephone last nite. I dialed 911 and filled out a report at the scene. Today the police called me to say that they were going to arrest her. I have a pending aggravated harassment case against her which is the reason I was granted the Order. What is the punishment, if any, for a first violation of an Order of Protection. There has been no violence.

After Katrina New Orleans police confiscated many legally owned guns. While there could be an arguement that they an unarmed public would be safer such an arguement misses the point that the legal firearms are generally owned by law abiding citizens. Meanwhile the illegal firearms, are more generally owned by people who are threats to peace. Regardless of any mistakes made at that time how could not returning these legal fireams be defended?

This one woman visited my roommate 2 times. Both times vandalism occurred on my property. This woman's ex-boyfriend has criminal record of stalking and vandalism. We believe it is him. The police can't and don't seem to be able to do anything. What can I do? Also, supposedly this woman put restraining order on him and now has since gone back to him. Any suggestions of how I can proceed?

There was a murder in our small town May 26, 2006. There was one witness, but her head was covered for most of it. The local police tell her to not talk to media. Why? The police seem to be at a standstill and will not tell anyone anything accept they have 1-2 suspects but not enough to go on...but they will not give press conference or anything. Why? Is this normal? We have not had murder here in over 20 years.

There was a disput between two other teens and she was trying to tell the officer she was not involved. He was yelling at her to shut up, and graped her arm and told her to put her hands on the car. The more he did the more she tried to get him to listen. She has never been in any trouble, a top student in school, very active in her church. The officer hand cuffed her and took her to the station and put her behind bars, called us and said he was going to send her on to an other city to a girls boot camp. how can somthing like this happen and do we and our child have any rights befor the law on this. He (the officer) said she would be called to go befor a judge. Do we need a lawyer?

My younger brother (early 20s) is being released from prison after 2 years. He will be staying with me until he gets back on his feet.

He seems to have grown up during his time inside, and appears to want to be a different person to what he was. I believe that he should be given the opportunity to show that he is not the person that he used to be, while others seem to think that ex-cons are nothing but a lower life form that do not deserve to be given the time of day.

What do you think?

I think my original question says it all. I know a person next door has been listening to our phone calls and those of at least one other neighbor. I want to know who I should talk to first about this, the police, a lawyer? And if it's a lawyer, what kind? I don't have proof except for this person's behavior and things he has done after certain phone calls. It just suddenly hit me one day and other little things started coming together, and I knew he was listening to our phone calls. This man does not work, so how he pays his bills I don't know. He moved into this neighborhood 2 years ago and he ruined a wonderful neighborhood. I also did some searching on the internet about federal and our state law and I know it is illegal to "intentionally" listen to other folks phone conversations without their knowledge. Thank you for any advice or help.
