The police and district attorney, anywhere, don't like to admit they made a mistake. My guess is you will get no cooperation unless you can come up with some concrete evidence, to use, to get their attention.
If you have the finances, consider hiring a private investigator who has experience in investigating murder cases.
Lack of finger prints does not mean anything by itself. Gun shot residue is always present on a shooter's hand, and you would have to see the investigation files to determine if residue was checked for and found, on the victim or anyone else at the scene.

you need to contact a private investigator or a private lawyer. These are two ways also, you could find a detective who is willing to do this.It will take a lot of persistence but, it could pay off. Get all that you have in order and start apporaching people. Some will do this for little or no fee I mean, if they find out you are right then it is the publicity they will get and that will get them plenty of new clients so, keep at it and try all these things and dont give up.....Good luck to you. Also, if you are in illinois i can give you names...........

To get to the truth of the matter, only a privately retained investigator is going to dig. It's a closed matter to the police.

Two options, call the local media

or

Let it go

With either option, you have a lot to consider.

Good luck and God Bless

P.S. No one gets away with anything in this life. Trust me on that one.

you need to get in contact with the officer that runs the cold case file division. give him the information you have found, but it needs to be something that can be proved not he said she said stuff. the link below is a story much like your own it might give you some ideas

you basicly can't force them to, you can hire private investigators to try and prove a case and then present it to the police
