On that site they say the police are demanding more than the basic identification as the gun owner. They are wanting the original bill of sale. That could be non existant in the case of a gift or family heirloom. Or in Kansas or Tobago with the storm.

I understand that they can indeed return the guns but the owners will have to make application and show proof of ownership of the gun

dont worry the nra will make sure that nagin gives the guns back you can be sure of that . why did the ppl in new orleans re-elect ray nagin ? I mean he has possibly the worst mouth of any mayor black or white . and he has made some of the rudest comments about cities in general .
