This is story, YAHOO frontpage, about a judge in SF (no surprise there) who struck down a law requiring employers to fire people who's names don't match their soc.sec. numbers. AMAZING! To me it makes sense... You lied on your application, we can't trust you, you're fired! easy enough.

After all a single automobile will put out more carcinagines in a day then a smoker will in a life time. I mean if we are going to ban one product for hurting people's lungs we should ban all products that do or the law is discriminatory and not constitutional.

Well of course there is definitely more opportunity to express ourselves (and freely too) today than before. With this pro-democracy ideology spreading like wild fire everywhere. I guess the Internet is a huge factor, because it's difficult to monitor everything and also the convenience and anonymity enjoyed. This yahoo answers thing is one great example of how we all can express our opinions in so many different topics. But is it really 'free' speech? One person exercising his right to free speech may (and usually does) infringe on someone else's opinion/culture/beliefs etc. So how 'free' are we really?

Here in Australia, Big Day Out (a music festival) tickets in Sydney went on sale on Wednesday. They sold out in minutes.

Organisers and promoters had a two ticket maximum on all sales to prevent scalping of tickets after last years event sold out in 45 minutes and previous years have also had scalpers scalping tickets.

Now the media is reporting that tickets are being resold online for up to $22,000AU when the actual sale price was less than $150.

What do you think of scalpers and of this practice?

What should be done to remedy this situation? What practices do other countries have in place to prevent scalping?

I know someone who has worked for a firm for 12 years and is the longest serving member of staff, yet he has been made redundant whilst younger men with less service have not. He is, however, 2 years past state retirement age. Does he have a case for unfair dismissal due to age discrimination?

How do you get a check for $ .30 (that's 30 CENTS!) for child support after 6 years of nothing. She doesn't work and it just came in the mail out of the blue...what's the deal? The "mother" of my boyfriend's kids left them literally on the doorstep 6 years ago, and has not paid 1 dime since walking out thoughshe is court ordered. The kids' dad has full custody but doesn't want to report her, because we don't need her money and he doesn't want the kids resenting him for it. She doesn't work, but is married now and has 2 other kids...where did this measley 30 cents come from and why? We live in Texas.

My best friend is 15 years old and has been dating a 20 year old. Her mother allowed them to date. They were harassed by a cop(from what i understand) about a week ago & they both admitted that they has had sex. Today, they came & asked questions(not to me) & said that they had a warrent for his arrest & that CPS would be involved if her mother wouldn't comply with filling charges. They went to her bf's work and arrested him on 4 counts sex with a minor(don't remember at the moment what it's really called).
What can they do about it if her mother allowed them do date(not permission to have sex), when she knew that her daughter was sexually active before this relationship?

I was referred to Walgreens 3 months ago...and the girl that referred me said that she will be getting about $250 now sonce its been 3 months...and I should get some $$ also. But I was reading on Store.net that because we are in Evansville, IN the amount given will be doubled.

Who do I talk to about this...my pharmacy manager isn't 100% sure how this works.

Also, she works at Walgreens a couple miles a way from the one I got hired on at. Does that make a difference?

One company i know, changed the date of the non-working day in their company due to "employees request". Is this possible? The company is a 6days a week work schedule and Friday was the holiday, they moved the holiday to Saturday. Furthermore, employees there work for half day on Saturday but since they moved the holiday to Saturday, they have to report the whole day on Friday without the premium.

Okay, I respect attorneys. They are necessary and they usually serve society with the best interests. But how could anyone have the drive to become a divorce attorney? How could anyone be that cold and ruthless to be the one responsible for breaking apart a family? Please, someone lend me some insight. Maybe these people aren't as heartless as I think they are.

Example- At 17 you can see R movies and move out if parents don't care or sign papers. At 18 you are granted the right to vote and buy tobacco, but what comes with being 17- what rights are granted without any court orders? I've been arguing this and have heard more than one answer. I've tried looking in the Texas Family Code but don't know which part to read; if you could tell me the restrictions lifted and where you found the answer on a site that's not ".com", it would be appreciated.

I'm 18 years old and have a minor form of turrets. When I was younger I usta have a vocal tic, now I just occasionally have a neck twitch. It causes me headaches and all other kinds of stress. I have a few friends that smoke weed and they offered me some one day. I was hesitant but tried it. It was crazy. I was totally relaxed and I no longer felt the tense feeling in my neck runing my life. I was totally relaxed. This was when I was 16, and I have been smoking weed since and my turrets has virtually gone away. My life got so much better. I want all you out there who oppse medical marijuana to tell me why I should be deprived the only thing that truely has cured me.
