My husband and I smoke, but we would never subject our kids to it. We smoke outside on the back patio, we never smoke with them around, and never, EVER in the car.

And no, I didn't smoke while pregnant, and didn't pick it back up until well after the kids stopped breastfeeding.

Should it be banned? Of course! Kids don't need to get second hand smoke. But I'm leery of the government telling us what to do, seems parents should make these choices on their own, huh?

I think that is is wonderful if adults want to harm their bodies go for it!! Do not subject your kids to second hand smoke!! I would love the law to pass in Kansas my children are in the car when their inconsiderate father smokes. What is a divorced parent to do when their ex smokes with the kids??

It is not the government's job to raise our children. If parents smoke around kids that is horrible I agree but we need less government and more people to assume responsibility for their own actions. We as a people need to do this and not our government trying to control our actions. What's next fine parents for letting their kids play too much Xbox or watch too much TV?

On second thought can we sue smokers for attempted murder, or better yet the cig. companies?

That's not all. All of the top Dem candidates want a federal ban on smoking.

On it's face it seems good but the reality is that it will have zero effect on the health of the children. Just sitting in a car on a freeway and breathing in all of those car and truck exhaust fumes is FAR worse for the health of the child then second hand smoke could ever be. It's funny how those who get indignant about other people smoking around children think nothing of zooming past them in their carcinogen belching vehicles. Let's not pass laws that take away personal liberties simply for politically correct reasons. It just smacks of socialism.

banned smoking in restuarants...bars...cars...
just about every establishment everywhere. Hell, if smoking is so damn bad and is one of the leading causes of cancer....why don't they just ban cigarettes??? because the government would lose too much money from the taxes and the tobacco industry is too powerful.....so go ahead and smoke....only where?????

Just what they need. The police chasing smokers when there is more violent crime that needs to be dealt with.

Yes, I do love it. Personally, though, if it were me, I'd take the kids FROM the parents.

They don't deserve them if they're freely giving their kids cancer.
