Oprah's question, not mine, but I just want to see what answers are here. Studies are showing that mortality rates are higher for lower income families due to poor or no health insurance in the United States. Those who do not believe in government sponsored health care are failing to come up with any answers, just criticisms of a government system. What are your thoughts?

If a non-human animal was enduring excruciating amounts of pain and suffering, would a reasonable person not euthanize the animal in order to end its suffering immediately? Why then would a reasonable person not extend the same consideration to a suffering human?

NOT regarding religious values and laws, just reason why someone might object to this logic.

I have a question about the legality of a policy that my boss has enacted. Apparently, before I started here, my group was a little unruly. In order to curb that, my bosses enacted a policy of no talking, unless the conversation is work related. On my first day, I heard about it and said “What?!? That’s ridiculous!” But they have enforced that policy to the letter, even if you are doing your work while speaking, and it’s not that loud. Is that legal? I don’t see how it can be to restrict adults from speaking to their co-workers? If it’s not, what can I do about it?

I got a felony when I was 17 (not 18) for possession of narcotics (loratabs) with intent to distribute in the state of Louisiana. I have to go to jail for 3 months, is this felony going to ruin my life? Will I ever be able to get a good job or go to college? Should I throw one day making a family out the window? I don't know what to do, all of this is too much. Why can't the courts see that I did something stupid while I was still a kid... It's like my life isn't even in my own hands anymore.

Like in Criminal Law, if you are poor you are appointed a public defender who does nothing but try to get you to cop-out even when you are inocent, and if you have money your attorney will look up all kinds of defenses even if you are guilty. This does not make any sence to me at all. Plus, there are no law library for anyone in jail so they can help themselfs and their attorney on their case. So if you are poor, you are just out of luck when it comes to fair reppersentation.

Our local hospital, one of our areas largest employers, is denying health insurance to employees who are overweight. Is that legal? They are also stating no employee may smoke cigarettes prior to work, during work hours off site or after work? They are threatening if the policy doesn't hold, that they will enforce nicotine testing. Is this legal? What happened to freedom and democracy?

While at lunch, my son drank another kids tea that was laced with cough meds. He was unaware of this. The school knew this other kid had just been arrested for stealing these products the other week. I had already advised the school to keep my son separated from him. My son was so overdosed he spent the night in the hospital thinking he would die. While there, the kid who had the drugs spoke to my son on the phone in front of the Dr. to admit what had been taken. My son is home now but is faced with 5 days of out of school suspension. The school has launched an investigation but I feel there is some criminal negligence & intent on both their part and the 17 yr. old who brought this to school. I am still waiting for the police department to contact me. I can't afford a lawyer and am asking for some serious feed back from you as well as wondering if anyone else has experienced this themselves.

A music concert was just announced to take place in my town in January 2008. Tickets to the "general public" go on sale Monday at 10:00AM. An on-line search reveals ticket brokers already selling tickets at considerably over the face value indicated on the official ticket seller's website. First question, how do the ticket brokers get the tickets they are selling already (or do they even already have them??) and how do they skirt scalping laws that prohibit sales at over face value??

Howdy, i'm 17 and a couple years ago I got pulled over on my bike for not having the right relfectors, running a red light.. yada yada, got a 300 dollar fine...

I was told not to worry about it by my parentals, and I know they didnt do anything about it, and i hear that i now have a benchmark warrant? Would this stop me from getting a job?

I found this on usabackgrounds.com 'Can I see if someone has a warrant out for their arrest?

Local and state police are now prohibited from providing warrant and wanted information to private companies or individuals for commercial distribution. '

She is lazy and manipulative. She works 3 hours a day, during the evenings when the children are home from school and 4 hours on Saturday. She wants a modification of child support for their three children to include my income because she thinks I have a sizable income. In Maryland is there a way for her to include my income in the calculations? Also is voluntarily impoverished a rule that is generally favored. She has many hours during the day that she could work, she has a college degree and she works part time....by choice. Kids are 10, 14 and 15.

I'm sure with this latest school shooting in Cleveland that some people are going to start demanding total gun control, but how about thinking about allowing teachers and school staffs to carry concealed weapons to school? Reason one: if kids knew the staff was possible armed they would be less likely to bring a gun to school and start shooting. Reason two: if they did bring a weapon to school, they could be dropped before they could kill very many students and staff. How many people can be killed waiting for the police to show up?

I'm not saying require teachers to be armed, I'm just saying give them the option.
