Only if they have assets. If they have assets and they want to be sure who gets what after they're gone, yes they should hve a will. If they want the heirs to fight and waste the assets on legal fees and such, then, no they should leave no will.
Wills are cheap to prepare. You can use a lawyer and get a simple will for about $250. Or, if you can use a computer, you can buy some software, and make your own will for about $25. Just make sure that you follow the requirements of your state in finalizing the papers or you will have nothing that a court will accept.

My grandmother always said everyone should have a will no matter what kind of property or personal possesions they have. I think most people are wise enough today to leave a will although there are some who don't give it a thought, especially the younger generation.

Not just elderly, everyone should have a will. The reality of life is, you could go at anytime.
If you don't, court hearings are scheduled, and court costs eat into the estate, giving more to the government and less to the benefactors.
If there is no will, and the estate is contested, court costs could be enormous.

I think it is a good idea for anyone with assets of children to have a will. They do not require a great deal of money to write and you do not have to go to a lawyer. There are will kits out there if you need help, but a will can be as simple as writing out on a piece of paper what you wish to do with your assets and children after your death. Having your signature notarized is helpful.

All adults should make a will. It's not that you expect to die but it makes it much easier for those left behind to know what you wanted and it stops the government getting their grubby mitts on your property.

A will is also nice but in most cases it gets reverted to the closest blood relative, which may cause a big family fued so suggest the will thing.

It is not necessary to do so. If one leaves a Will, the succession is known as testamentary succession and it is governed by Indian Succession Act. If there is no Will, it is known as intestate succession and is governmed by Hindu Succession Act, for Hindus.
