How do you get a check for $ .30 (that's 30 CENTS!) for child support after 6 years of nothing. She doesn't work and it just came in the mail out of the blue...what's the deal? The "mother" of my boyfriend's kids left them literally on the doorstep 6 years ago, and has not paid 1 dime since walking out thoughshe is court ordered. The kids' dad has full custody but doesn't want to report her, because we don't need her money and he doesn't want the kids resenting him for it. She doesn't work, but is married now and has 2 other kids...where did this measley 30 cents come from and why? We live in Texas.

Is the check from her or a state/county agency? I don't know Texas law, but in Ohio the child support payments have to go through the county child welfare agency. So even if your boyfriend didn't make a complaint, they might know it anyway and she may have sent a check to try and get them off her back - if she's trying to show them that she's trying to make "payments".
I know it seems more hassle than it's worth, but he should make a copy of the check and then cash it. And do it with every one he gets from her!

ok I live in maryland when I was 16 years old now 25 never meet my dad My mother gave me mail I dont know why it was in my name for but it was a check for $0.25 from child support so I sent it back and put I dont need His money I have a job $0.25 is not going to help me that will not even get me a soda or a cake it's funny how people can just not pay child support For there kids My Mother has my first kid and I told the court I will not give her child support so I gave the juge a copy of my son savings accout and also showed him know one can get it but him when he turns 18 so that very day my mother want to the bank and tryed to get it out. Shes never work A day in her life why in the world did they give my kid to her god only knows I worked everyday sents I was 16

Who knows. LOL, my father died 12/25/1995 and I got a $38 check in the mail nearly 2 years after he died for child support. I woudl say report her, this is her child too and she shoudl be taking care of him/her.
