A Whitehorse woman is set to ask the Yukon Supreme Court Tuesday to bar a drug-sniffing dog from her daughter's high school, arguing that the girl's allergies will force her to drop out of Grade 11 if the dog patrols the school.

Porter Creek Secondary School is preparing to introduce the drug-detection dog and its handler, a drug awareness worker, in its hallways next week.

But the woman, who has asked not to be named, says her 15-year-old daughter suffers from severe pet allergies. According to her court affidavit, the woman says the girl had an accidental brush with a dog last month that sent her to the hospital.

"She's been put in a position where she has to make a decision between her daughter's health and the risk of a severe allergic reaction of sending her to school," Whitehorse lawyer Charlene Dumont, who is representing the woman, told CBC News on Monday.

"Unfortunately she really doesn't have a lot of choice. If the dog is in the school, the girl will not be."

For example Iowa law states ""a person shall not be intoxicated or simulate intoxication in a public place." Intoxicaton being " the state of being affected by one or more psychoactive drugs." Which is what is happening even if you consume a single beer, it will affect you given the makeup of alchohol even if that affect can only be measured in scietific analysis. If so, why does the state allow the restaurant to serve it at all? If a cop wanted would the state allow them to arbitraily pick a restaurant... arrest every person who consumes alcohol and take them down to the local jail and get strip searched (which is commonplace in most bookings)....All be it impractical, is it techincally legal...must people merely rely on the "good nature" of cops and lack of availibity of resources and manpower to avoid such treatement when having a budweiser at the local Applebees???

For not listening to what they tell me to do? I'm 24 now, but last yr., I was living back with my former foster family after Hurricane Katrina so I can finish up my college degree, since my home was destroyed. My former foster brother in law told me to turn off my mp3 player & stop listening to it. That was my former foster mom's house, & he could've gone back to his own house. Nothing was wrong with his home. When I refused to stop listening to the mp3 player, the foster mom told me that he had every right to knock me off my @$$. I'm not a kid, & I wasn't harming anyone for listening to my mp3 player, & then there was a foster boy who was 16, & he would blast his music @ 3 AM, & when I told my former foster mom, she would encourage him to beat me up. If I'm an adult, why do I have to obey other adults, JUST for the hell of it if I'm not doing wrong? My foster BIL was NOT the man of the household, so why did my FFM make me obey him? ***& YES, this IS the full & true story!

I am very curious about how Osama can send videos and not get caught as to where they are coming from or who goes into the White House to give the tapes in?!

If this was any other person, they would trace fingerprints and find out where it's coming from, how, why, when, and where?! So why isn't it possible for them to do it with Osama?!

i dont understand.....anyone know anythin???

Two weeks ago I bought a charger for my laptop from Walmart. It worked for 3 days.I returned it.I told the cashier at customer service, "The charger does not work. Here is my receipt, I paid with my debit card,if its ok I'd rather have a gift card".She did the refund and put it right back on the debit card didn't hand me the receipt copy to sign. The manager was standing next to her instantly reprocesses it w/o stating what they did and hands me the gift card.Today, I checked my bank account and see they posted it back to my bank.I called because I didn't want her to lose her job and they told me I must be mistaken that they couldn't have given two refunds on one receipt. So I got the $63 back on the original debit card and $63 on giftcard. Now I am wondering if they can redebit the account later and if so how long they have?

A friend of mine was in a relationship. She had $250K and she got a personal joint checking account w/ her partner. They went into business together and opened another joint account for business. Both accounts were set up with a limit that over a certain low amount like over $1000 that both signatures are required. $160k was put into the business account, and her partner lied to her about what the money was being used for to get her signatures, is this considered fraud?. In the personal account she took the remaining money after the $160K was taken out of it and withdrew all the money and closed the account forging my friend's signature. She also took money from her for a house sale saying that she would purchase the business with the money but instead pocketed it and put a loan out on the business instead. Please keep in mind, my friend is a disable woman(Cerebral Pasly) who was taken advantage of. Can she get her money back as well as pressing charges for fraud?

I was in a grocery store getting a few items when I was walk pass a sea food display freezer and slipped in a puddle of water. A couple of employees came over to help me up and all that good stuff and cleaned up the water. I was helped to the front of the store so they could file an accident report when they notice that there safety records for that hour where not signed off by the assistant manager they apologized for the accident and I then went to the ER to get my knee and hip checked out. The X-rays showed that everything was ok and the ER Doctor
wanted me to follow up with my primary care physician. I then had and MRI done per my physician and everything looked ok with that. I then contacted many lawyers and none of them could take the case because I guess I didnt break and bones or something. After all this I contacted the store where I fell and they said they will pay up to $1,500 for medical bills. What do I need to do about this? My medical bills are about $6000.

I was cycling back from my local town when three unspeakably cretinous individuals on bicycles decided to laugh at me as loudly as they possibly could. I am used to this, as my appearance is somewhat unusual, altough I decided today to tolerate no more of it. I responded with the wisest remark I could think of at the time - **** you - and cycled off with two fingers in their direction. However, a few roads later, I heard a retarded grunt (I believe that he said a certain word beginning with "C"). Not wanting to take any chances, I cycled home as fast as I could and got in before they saw my house. I did hear them shouting in the streets as they carried out a futile search, but they soon left.

My point of concern is that my town is a small one. How can I prevent an incident if we meet again? I will not be intimidated by mindless thugs, yet I cannot carry a 16oz hammer at all times. I will do so when possible, but it doesn't fit easily into a coat. What should I do?

Like 4 months ago I got an unmarked letter in my mailbox that basically said a bunch of things wrong with my house.. Like I left a shovel outside in my background, some hose, and some cable wires exposed. They said to clean it up because it badly represents the neighborhood. I was really pissed at that, but I eventually cleaned up the stuff they are talking about.

Now today I get another unmarked letter (same handwriting) and they say I have too many weeds and my house is becoming an eyesore to them. This neighborhood is very small, town less than 3000 people So its not like beverly hills or w/e

Does anyone else think this guy is wrong? I know I might have a few weeds out there but I was going to get to them, now I feel like not picking them just to spite this guy. What should I do?

I really want to know who this is. I feel like im being harrassed and since there is no address I cant do anything. Is it a police matter? should I go door to door and ask if they sent the letter

Ten years ago my employment was terminated after I left work early. Since, I have been having trouble getting jobs or even an interview. I am curious as to what this employer is telling potential employers as I have them listed on my Work Experience. Is it possible for me to call my past employer pretending to be an employer interested in myself and see what they're saying? If that makes sense. If so, what questions do I ask?

My roommate moved out last weds and no longer has a key (its been days she hasn't had a key but I'm not sure how lonng) she left an item in my room. The college notified me at 11:30pm last night that I have until the 20th to find a new roommate or forfeit a $340 private room fee. I feel it is not my responsibility considering I was given the privilege of use of this room and have no car available to transport goods..and now either time or money will be stolen from me. After lunch I returned to my room to find it UNLOCKED with the roommates item gone. She had no right to leave it in my room since it was MINE and no longer hers, I just postponed moving the item (a desk) out to the lawn in front of the dorm building. It seems illegal that someone (from dorm residence life) allowed her into my room without my knowledge or permission and allowed her to take any item she claimed was hers. Furthermore I have no safety knowing the door was left unlocked.

My husband drives a pulp truck, he's an owner operator. Yesterday he was driving and a horse ran out in front of him. The horse was running at full speed and he didn't see it coming until it was too late, he tried to stop but didn't have enough time. The police said they'd been chasing the horse all day. The insurance company says there's probably nothing they can do, he'll have to pay for the damage himself. He was obviously not at fault, the police agreed that he wasn't at fault. Has anyone ever been in a situation like this before? And does anyone know what would make a horse run like that?

Saudi Arabians openly admit to abusing and mistreating Christians and Jews in their country but get royally pissed off if that happens to them elswhere in the world. The Government of Saudi openly outlaws the practice of any religion except Islam. Practicing any religion other than Islam is illegal. All "infedels" are more heavily taxed, cannot practice their religion except in secret, are constantly pressured by the Saudi Government and Religios sector to convert to islam, while any attempts at conversion by a non-muslim is severely punished. Any time another country treats them the way they treat everyone else, they cry..."this is unfair! You have to change your laws to accomodate us!" I say screw that. I say we adopt the same laws as Saudi and see how they like being deported everytime they mention their god just as they do to us. Who are they to think they are better than anyone else? And that question applies to everyone on earth.
