First I want to tell you that I am not hear to put you down. School is really important. A lot of the jobs do ask for a high school (D), but will take a GED.You will find a job, the places you put on here do not worry about it. I do not know about the legal part, if they would ask for this. I know a lot of people that are got jobs and were not legal. Please think and try to go back to school, you are so close to the end. I was also a drop out and I swear it has played a big part of my life. Now I am trying to finish what should have been done a long time ago. If you finish school you always will get the better job. Would you like to tell people you work at a Burger place or somewhere where people will say that's good? The good thing is at least you are looking and you are not standing on the road asking for money like some people who can really work but pick not to. I wish you the best in what ever you do in life. I hope you get the job and you can go to night school or even on-line. Wishing you the very best.

Most states allow you to leave school at 16 with parental permission and full time working papers.
"do i need a highschool diploma to be a hostess?or dishwasher, bussboy?" The answer is no you don't. My question is do you want to remain a "hostess?or dishwasher, bussboy" for the rest of your life.
Getting an equivalency diploma is good. It may get you to bat. A regular high school diploma will get you to first base and a college diploma allows you to get to second.
Good luck. As a former High school teacher, guidance counselor and as a retired high school assistant principal and principal I could not resist

Well.
I don't know where you live, but here's the laws in my state:
If you drop out at 16, you can't get or keep a driver's license until you're 18.
You can get a job - they can't tell you that you can't.
You can't get your GED until the year that you would have graduated had you stayed in school...Usually the year you turn 18, obviously.
And, just a thought, if you decide later in life that you don't want to be a bussboy, fewer and fewer colleges are taking people with GEDs, unless they were homeschooled.

The california law is 17 to drop out, but since you have been out since 15, the truent officer probably isn't looking for you. Um, I don't know if any of the places you mentioned will hire you, but if you really need the money, try McD or a place like that. Good Luck. You don't need a diploma to be a hostess, dishwasher, or bussboy, but you might need to be 18, if you are a drop out.

Well, honestly, its not going to be easy to get a job. Even Burger King will hire someone else over you just because they finished high school and you didnt... jobs will even hire a younger person over you if they are still in school... in today's society you need a college education to get anywhere... so not having a high school education makes the situation even worse. Until you get your GED you are probably out of luck and even in that case you will still need to go to some type of college or technical school. I'd say your best bet is to try and find a job that is more of a manual labor kind of thing... Like construction work, until you get your GED. It's going to be hard to find anything else....especially depending on where you live.

Serious, without a HS Diploma, (not a GED) your career opportunities. even in a Denny's, are going to be limited to the kitchen. I believe you will fine that even in a high end establishment such as Applebees, a HS diploma is required for any kind of decent job. Are you going to be satisfied with minimum wage jobs the rest of your life?
Stay in school. If it is too hard for you, then life is really going to kick your ***. By staying in school you show a prospective employer that you have a certain amount of discipline.

Most jobs require that you either have a diploma or GED or be actively pursuing one. Depending where you live it may or may not be legal. It would however be a HUGE mistake. While you might find employment at some burger joint, you will never make it much beyond that. Finish school.
As a hiring manager, if you are not a high school graduate or currently enrolled in school I would not even talk to you.

first of all, it probable has plenty to do with what state you're in; Im specific you will locate data on drug sorting out regulations on your state on line yet nonetheless, companies can truthfully do something they like to you once you're their worker (different than whether that's against the regulation via regulation: ie sexual harrassment) they are in a position to alter your job, pass you around the place of work, visual reveal unit your telephone calls AND digital mail or maybe hearth you for no reason in any respect. As an worker you supply up assorted your rights. there is even a enterprise now (no BS) that reveal screen instruments what you arise to, as in DUI, arrests etc. once you have already been employed. the belief is that in case you wouldnt have have been given the job in case you probably did X formerly they employed you, why ought to you hold the job in case you do it on an identical time as an worker. study, yet i could say they're w/i their rights; esp. in the event that they're a great corp and have the money to comprehend what they're doing. Now, ask your self, do you like to paintings at that enterprise anymore? grow to be this in simple terms you or lots of of persons? I wouldnt, thats for specific.

I don't know why you wouldn't want to go back to school because for the rest of your life your going to be working at places like Mimi's cafe, Denny's, Apple Bees and other min. wage places. Your never going to get a "real" job. I don't know if its legal where you are from but it sure is stupid. If you don't want to go back to school then why don't you do home school instead?
