House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked and said "The American people don't know the half of it". She also was asked about impeachment as a remedy for illegal conduct by Bush, Cheney and other administration officials and responded "Its not worth it". If the price of inaction is the forfeiture of our constitutional democracy , then the worth of action needs to be reexamined - quickly, and in earnest.* This congress has been saddled with an unenviable task: They are asked, scripted by the nations founding fathers, to undertake a rather monumental stand in defense of the republic.* The constitution is clear.* What will prevail, law or lawlessness?* Law or Lawlessness by Marc Ash> Truthout I Perspective

I have done a lot of reading and researching since 2001 and while I believe this is an illegal and immoral war, I now think that this administration is not the first nor will it be the last to commit such crimes.

There is so much more out there that the American people need to know yet don't and they won't get it from conventional media.

People need to research the 50's lifestyle, then the 60's on up to this date. Something is going terrifically wrong for average Americans. The American Dream is no more, I just wanted to know why. You would think that people my age, would want to know why too.

For instance, why is it that in the 50's most families owned a home with a two car garage, the husband's pay was plenty, the wife stayed home and was a good mom and now most people cannot even afford to rent a decent place, both people have to work to scrape by, and they don't need a two car garage because they are lucky if they can afford one car?

Someone is hijacking our government. Don't you want to know who and why?

Which is worse, someone who breaks the law or someone who knows the law was broken, knows who did it, AND has the power to bring them to justice-- And does NOTHING about it?

That is what Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid & Company are doing? If you really believe what Nancy says is true what are you going to do in '08?

OK You hate Republicans. You believe they are all vile, greedy, unscrupulious, criminals who should all be shot on sight so there is no way you would even think about voting for one. There are a ton of minor parties out there who don't stand a snowballs chance in hell of winning. And then there these Democrats who right up front say it's not worth it to go after Bush, Cheney, and company for what you see and supposedly the Democrat leadership acknowledges as obvious crimes against the state.

Looks like it's time to throw ALL the incumbents out. Bush and company are gone due to term limits. They are out. You only can get a third of the Senators this round but you can get ALL those Representatives! And they are the ones who have to bring the charges of wrong doing.

In 1994 Democrats got ousted because they weren't doing the right thing. IN 2006 they got back in saying they would do something right. Send Congress a message. You do what you are supposed to be doing and we leave you alone. You sit on your backside and let criminals get off free and YOU are G-O-N-E!

Down with do nothing incumbents!

In the two examples of impeachment in our history we have just seen politics and neither law or justice.

The constitution says that impeachment is for high crimes and misdemeanors. In both of the case of Andrew Johnson and William Clinton you have the vast majority of the Presidents political party voting against conviction and the vast majority who voted for conviction being of the opposite political party. With Johnson the main charge was the he violated the Tenure of office Act by firing a cabinet member without permission of Congress. That law was later declared unconstitutional. In the case of Bill Clinton he was charged with covering up his relationship with Monica Lewinsky and of lying or deceiving the public about it. Today Bill Clinton is a very popular ex-president.

The point made is that impeachment and the voting to convict a sitting President has been mostly a political matter. Perhaps Pelosi is smart enough to see it this way and does not want more rancor at this time and is therefore against any impeachment procedures.

There could be other issues too such as not enough voters to convict and waiting until a new election is held with Bush not being able to run again. She might also feel that there are not enough votes to convict him or that he did not commit "high crimes or misdemeanors".

As a practical matter, we already have elections next year and Bush can't run again. It really is not worth it to go through all the expense and drama of a impeachment trial at this point.

Keep in mind, I advocated impeaching Bush back when the warrant-less domestic spying thing was first uncovered. That is the only blatant illegal action I know of that the administration has taken.

Nancy Pelosi broke the law when she spent several million dollars on an un-authorized trip to Iran, to conduct her personal agenda with a known enemy of the United States. I wouldn't take stock in anything that falls out of her mouth.

Pelosi should talk. She's a flower child of the 60's and has maybe one brain cell left. By the way did Clinton break the law? Did you break any laws?????

Absolutely, no doubt about it. But why waste the country's time and treasure on impeachment? The Democrats benefit from every faux pas or uncovering of corruption that comes from this Administration.

no they have not broken the law. and congress should spend more time deal with real issues than trying to catch a fish bare handed. they are letting us down as much as anyone else with their witch hunts that ultimately change nothing.

No, they change the law so what they do is legal. IE, wire tapping, getting rid of habeas corpus, etc
